Chapter 3: Into the Depths of the Endless Forest!

"We're here!"  Lucy exclaimed, and everyone stared up at the towering trees high above them.

It was eerily quiet, the leaves rustling through the breeze and sending a chill up Lucy's spine.

"Alright!"  Natsu exclaimed.  "Let's go!"

"Aye, sir!"  Happy exclaimed.

All together, they started walking into the shade of the trees, the forest swallowing them up as everyone walked down the forest path.

"This forest gives me the creeps..."  Wendy murmured, clutching Carla tightly.

"Keep an eye out, everyone."  Erza muttered warningly, and they all nodded.

Natsu was in front, walking along with a focused expression on his face.  Lucy looked up, the branches of the monstrous trees high above her.  She gulped as she heard a roar echo through the trees, which sounded beastly and incredibly big.

"I think I'm starting to agree with you, Wendy..."  Lucy replied, turning to look back at her friends.

But then, she stopped.

Everyone was gone.

Lucy looked around wildly, fear starting to grow in the pit of her stomach.  "N-Natsu?!  Happy?"  She felt eyes watching her from the shadows, and the fear grew inside her.  "Erza?  Gray?  Wendy?"  Lucy looked back behind her.  "Everyone!  Where'd you go?!"

"I think..."  Lucy's voice wandered off, and Erza looked at her in shock as she disappeared.

She suddenly narrowed her eyes.  "So the forest splits us up, does it?"

Erza looked ahead, which was now a different route.  "But why does it?"

That place brings out your worst nightmares...  The old woman's voice rang through Erza's head.

She scowled.  This can't be good.

"Oh no!"  Wendy exclaimed, fearful.  She turned to Gray.  "We were seperated from the others!"

"Damn this stupid forest..."  Gray grumbled, clenching his teeth.

"Which way should we go?"  Carla asked, looking ahead to see their path had also changed.  "That lady in Alibiy said if we take the wrong route, we'd end up starting all over again!"

There were two paths ahead of them, one to the right and one to the left.

They were silent for a moment.

Then, Gray sighed.  "I've got an idea."

Using his Ice-Make powers, Gray was able to ramp himself up as high as the trees, and he looked around over the horizon.
