When our group can see the bus (it is still far, but we can see it) Luke walks up to me.
"Uggh" he says letting a breathe out. I look over and can't help but giggle.
"What?" He says.
"Oh nothing." I say smiling.
"So, What is your favorite thing about the apocalypse?" Luke says. I guess he is just trying to be optimistic about the whole situation. I get it, I think it's stupid.
"Eh, I guess being able to go where I want and not getting in trouble."
"I think it is being able to spent time will you guys, and what you said." I smile again. He said he liked spending time with me.
"Why are you all of the sudden talking to me? Just cause the world is ending." I ask, hopefully not being rude. He looked over to me and smiled, but only a little.
"Cause your, you." What? What does that even mean? He continues,
"I have liked you for a while, I guess since the world is technically ending now would be the time to tell you." He blushes and looks forward.
"Really?" Is the only thing I could utter.
"Mhm," Luke nods his head.
"Oh my Gosh." I say and I smile. I look at him for a moment more, then look forward too. The bus is right there. Im glad we finally made it here. I see a figure in the bus, walking.
"Is that a person?" Eliot exclaims.
"I think it is!" Mason yells and behind to run. Julie grabs his arm. They have been dating for about two years now and they are very protective over each other.
"Hey, wait." Julie says and pulls Mason back.
"That could be a rotter I'll get-" Julie gets pushed to the side by Brandon walking toward the bus, his scissors in hand. The figure on the bus makes a noise "arghhh" and it walks fast toward Brandon. It trips down the bus steps and almost lands on him. He pushes it down and stabs in in the head. I stand astonished. He said earlier he doesn't want to kill if he doesn't have to, he choose this. He gets up off the ground and flicks the blackish blood off his scissors. He walks stiff to the back of the group and as he passes me says
"Clear." Then he keeps walking.
It is about 2 already we spent more time at Brandon's grandparents house. I continue to walk up the road the way we came on the bus, but I only remember so much. Most of the ride is a blur because I like to catch up on sleep in the morning rides. We have been walking for 45 minutes and my feet hurt terribly. Like I have been walking on burning hot Legos. Then I see it, a car. I stop.
"A car!" I yell I start running ignoring the pain in my feet. It kind of feels good to run, I breathe the fresh air. My lungs burn, but I keep going I see Luke run next to me. Now I know the group must be close behind. I am junior in high school so I know how to drive. I finally get with in arms reach of the car. I put my hand on the door Handel please let there be keys, oh please please please I think to myself I open the door and my heart skips a beat when I see the keys are there. I yell to Eliot and Mason because they are slow runners.
"Hurry! There are keys, we can drive now!" They pick up their pace when they get here we all fit into the Suburban. I let Julie drive since she is 4 months older than me and she has had more experience. I sit in the middle row of seats next to Luke. Then I shut my eyes and lean my head against the window. Not to sleep, just to rest my eyes.
