Just the beginning

I want to give Brandon a minute to relax about what just happened so I walk up stares to get the body out of the house. I walk into the room with all the boxes and I see Brandon's grandfather laying on the floor. I walk over to it and take a deep breath pacing my heart, I get a whiff of the dead body. I cough and cover my nose then I realize I am going to need both hands. I grab the Rotters ankles and I begin to pull it out of the room. When I get to the top of the stares I just push the body down. I walk down behind it. I look through the door way to make sure Brandon isn't looking. I open the front door quietly and drag the body down the front steps and over to the side of the house. I walk back inside and into the kitchen to get Brandon's grandmother and the rotter that was eating her. After I get them both out I go to the bathroom to wash my hands the water does not come on. I mess with the sink handles trying to get the water to come back on. Maybe just this sink is broken. I think, I hope. I move into the kitchen to see if that sink works, nothing. I breathe out hard getting Julies attention.

 "You okay?" she asks.

"Yeah, the water stopped working." I respond.

"Wow, we are already that far into the apocalypse?" She says making me laugh. I have not realized that this is really a zombie apocalypse until this second. I think before I just thought it would get better, that maybe all the craziness is all in my head. Now I know it is not.

"I guess." I say forcing a smile.

"So what are we gonna do now? Should we go try to find more people? Our parents? Siblings?" I was an only child, so I only have to worry about finding my parents. I know that Julie has a little sister in middle school, because we are in high school I have no idea where her little sister would be. I also know that Luke has a little brother in elementary school It would probably be harder to find him.

"I do wanna find my house, or at least the direction of it. Ill go tell everyone."

"Hey, Steph," I hear Julie say behind me.

"Yeah?" I say turning around

"They look up to you. " She says

"They shouldn't" I say turning and walking out of the kitchen to the living room.
