Nothing Gold Can Stay

As we got to the fair we saw people moving around setting up things and making sure everything was prepared.

"Hey ill be right back" Alex said nervously and let go off my hand.

"Were are you going?" I asked narrowing my eyes at him lately hed been acting strangely and most of the time he was gone, but that isnt what bothred me. 

What actually bothered me was he lied to me, as if he wanted to get away from me without telling me. 

It hurt to think he was actually avoiding me, because what I felt for him was more than what I felt for him. 

I think im falling in love with him, no, no, no I dont I tell myself.  

I cant bare to think that because I know he doesn't feel the same way, he never will, I mean, why would he. 

Anyway id never tell him with the possibility of losing his frienship, of losing him. 

No, I wouldn't, I won't, I won't be selfish snd ruin ehat we have for my stupid selfish heart.

"Oh-oh um to the restroom" he says, his jaw twitching slightly, just like it always does when he lies.  

Nobody knows he does it, not even him.

"But you can go here Jareds only getting something hell come soon" Jared was the owner of the fair, which had been his dads before his, he was 21 when hed taken it over which was two years ago. 

One day hed heard us practicing in the garage with the top open which wed forgotten to close and ask us to perform at the fair, which by the way is called 'Black Fest'.

"Um yeah, but I really need to go, ill just go to the convenient store at the corner, ill only take a few" By now I could tell he was in a hurry to get there.

"Can I come?" I asked.

"No!... I mean um no, im just going fast" he replied. 

I couldn't help but feeling hurt, hed never raise his voice at me it was one of the rules wed made and the second hed broken.  

But as much as I was hurt I put on a straight face.

"Okay" I said plastering a fake smile on my face."Buy me something while your there" I said. 

He didnt even respond as he quickly left to the convenient store.  

He didn't even give me a kiss on the cheek like he always did. 

I sight as I run a hand thru my hair, I turn around snd start walking back toward my friends to see they've already gone inside and set up everything.

"Hey guys sorry i didnt help set up, Alex went to use the restroom at the convenient store by the way" I shouted behind me as I climed onto the stage and grabbed the microphone. 

"Oh yeah" I screamed into the microphone and got an screeching horrifying sound in return.  

"Hey techno geek microphone aint working!!!" I said wailling my arms in the air at Andy who rolled his eyes.

"Wow really I didnt know, I mean I didnt just hear the screeching sound that came from it" he said sarcastically.

"Woooooow back it up dude only I use sarcasm, its my speciality, yours is techno-canisus which has to do with fixing my microphone" I said

"What's the magic word" he says crossing his arms

"Open sesame" I day matching his movements.  

He shakes his head at me waiting for me to say it. 

"Please" I mutter

"What?"
