"I love you Aleks." Jordan reminded him. Aleks nodded his head, keeping his eyes on his laptop as he did his school work. Jordan watched him as he ate lunch, deciding against arguing with Aleks and choosing to force him to eat when he was done. The only sound in the room was the fork against the bowl of mac n cheese and the sounds of Aleks typing his English essay.
"What's your essay about?" Jordan questioned.
"How written language is more beneficial to humanity than trying to remember exact stories." Aleks was monotone as Jordan nodded in understanding.
"Is it coming along okay?" He asked. Aleks nodded, typing his last few words then clicking all of the necessary things to send it to his teacher. He shut the laptop and stood up, moving it into the living room to place it on the charger.
He glanced at the ground then went upstairs, heading into his room and softly shutting the door. Ever since thanksgiving he refused to make eye contact with Jordan. His mind still fighting with his heart over how he should feel about Monica, and what she said. He didn't believe her but he didn't believe Jordan either.
Flopping onto the bed, Aleks closed his eyes. These issues had been keeping him up at night, taking away his precious few hours of sleep and replacing them with anxiety. That and he refused to sleep in Jordan's bed despite how much he wanted to. Especially with how cold the apartment could get at night.
"Aleks? Can we talk please?" Aleks ignored the knock at the door and turned over, opening his eyes to stare out the window. The door squeaked open and Aleks sighed.
"I didn't say yes."
"But you also didn't say no." Jordan argued, crossing the room in three long strides and sitting on the bed. Aleks turned towards him and sat up, running a hand through his long shaggy hair. He nodded at Jordan waiting for him to start speaking.
"Did what Monica say really hit you that hard? She's lying you know, just trying to ruin my life." He started.
Aleks shook his head, having to blink away tears and take a deep breath before he could talk like a normal person.
"No Monica's words didn't hurt me. I guess finding out that you were married to a women, then hearing the names of the others that only you know how long you kept. Were they given the same ultimatum? Or did they just have better escape skills than I do." Aleks sniffled, using his fingers to wipe away the tears that were overflowing down his cheeks. Jordan placed a hand on Aleks' knee only for it to be shoved off.
"I should've told you about her. I honestly didn't think that you would ever meet her." He tried to explain himself but it only made Aleks even more upset. He looked at Jordan with angry eyes, since when was 'you would never meet her' a viable excuse. Jordan took a deep breath before continuing.
"I got married right out of high school, it was what my parents wanted me to do and it was who my parents wanted me to marry. I knew that I was gay but no one else did. I wasn't ready to tell anyone either. So Monica and I were married and then I started my business and it continued to grow due to a constant want of not being home. Then when I knew I would never have to rely on my parents again, I came out. Monica and I divorced and she has never gotten over it. Soon after I found out about Malteaser's, the bar where I originally found you. I started going there and yes I would buy some boys. I never kept them for long, usually would try and fix whatever was wrong, whether they were sick or injured from being sold. Then I would give them some money and get them safe, and away from me. You are the first person I wouldn't let leave. Do you understand me, Aleks?" Jordan finished his story and placed his hand on Aleks' back. He noticed the Russian looked numb, not happy or upset. Just like he was not feeling at all.
Aleks allowed himself to be tugged onto Jordan's lap. He curled up and tucked his head into the crook of Jordan's neck. He understood what it was like to be afraid to come out. While it didn't make up for keeping his marriage from him, it did soften the blow a little bit.
"I love you, Aleks. That's why I don't want you to leave." Jordan explained, pressing a kiss to Aleks' head. Aleks turned his gaze up towards him and pressed their lips together, it was just right. Long enough for each of them to show their love to each other.
"I'm not forgiving you right now, but I won't dwell on it either." Aleks stated, grabbing the blanket from the bed and wrapping him and Jordan in it.
"I can live with that." Jordan agreed. He pressed another kiss to Aleks' lips, he knew Aleks would forgive him eventually and that he couldn't force him to forgive him any sooner. Aleks' stubbornness is one of the things Jordan loved the most about him.
"So does this mean we can go back to sleeping together? In both senses of the word." Jordan clarified, wiggling his eyebrows. Aleks shoved at him with a smirk on his face, sliding off of his lap easily.
"Well wouldn't you just love to know."
