"I was only five minutes late! Did they really eat everything?" Camila's jaw dropped, she threw her head back in distress. She had been looking forward to the dessert all day long. Y/N chuckled, Camila plopped down in a chair, crossing her arms.
"I'm playing around. I made extra, in case you want to take some home." Y/N pulled out a pie from the oven, placing it in front of Camila. She served Camila a bowl of ice cream, Camila eagerly devouring her portion of the dessert.
"I've been meaning to ask..." Camila spoke through a mouthful, "What happened to you and Ally?"
Y/N took a seat across the table, huffing at the question.
"She wanted to pursue a relationship, I tried to tell her I wasn't ready for one..." Camila nodded at the explanation, continuing to eat, "She dismissed my feelings and I got angry. I said some hurtful things, I need to apologize." Y/N leaned back in her chair, crossing her leg over the other.
She stuttered, thought over her next sentence, and decided to speak it aloud, "You know, she said the same thing you used to tell me."
Camila pushed her empty plate aside, "You're distant?"
Y/N smiled resentfully, "Yep."
"Then it's something you need to work on, Y/N."
It had been two years and the same issues were coming up in Y/N's relationships.
"I will, I mean...I am!" Y/N uncrossed her legs, leaning forward onto the table. Camila reached over to link their hands together. Y/N was opening up more now than she ever had when they were together. It was a turning point.
"You're getting better at this. We can actually have conversations now." Camila traced circles inside of Y/N's palm, "It doesn't feel one-sided anymore."
"I'm closing the distance I should've years ago." Y/N's shoulders relaxed from Camila's touch, she gazed at her, wanting to physically close the distance between them. Camila was too focused tracing the lines on her palm, she couldn't tell.
"Hey, we're doing a writing session, we need your help." Niall called for his sister. Y/N jerked back at his presence - quickly getting up to assist him.
"You write?" Camila followed behind Y/N into Niall's room, the boys were scattered along the corners with notebooks in their hands.
"Before I helped them, their songs went 'Na na na, like yeah-'" Y/N poked fun at her brothers but Louis cut her off, "We rocked those songs, don't let her fool you."
"Y/N, I don't know where to start." Harry slammed his notepad onto his thighs. Y/N stood beside him, looking over what he'd written.
"Falling in love..." Harry hummed the tune of the song, "Tell me where we're going, and if it's enough." Y/N continued the tune but scratched out his lyrics. She glanced at Camila who was playing around with Niall's guitar, lyrics began to effortlessly slip from her mouth.
"Sweet creature, had another talk about where it's going wrong..." She recited the memories of past conversations with Camila, Harry grabbed his notepad back and picked up where she left off, "But we're still young, we don't know where we're going, but we know where we belong."
"Fits better, thank you." Harry continued to scribble lyrics, Y/N walked over to Niall, the blue-eyed boy sighing relentlessly.
"All I need is a bridge and it's done." Niall handed his chord sheet to Camila, he sang as she strummed, "You still make me nervous when you walk in the room. Them butterflies they come alive when I'm next to you. Over and over the only truth, everything comes back to you..."
