Miranda's pov
Sierra was playing with Tate Luke's little boy when we were at the bonfire. Jason raises his drink and says something that catches me by surprise, "Hey Luke get yo butt over here, I want you to meet my new girlfriend!" He calls, my cheeks bright red. "I never said that." I say, poking his side. He laughs. "Oh I know you were thinkin' it." He's right I was. I stay quiet. "I knew it." He says, patting my head, only making me redder. "Hey, I'm Luke." His friend says. "Miranda." I reply shaking his outstretched hand. "Apparently I'm Jason's new girlfriend." They both laugh and so do I. Sierra runs over, laughing. Tate is chasing her with a water gun. She hides behind Jason. "Protect me dada!" She cries. He laughs. "I got this one." He says, picking them both up and throwing them over his shoulders. Tate sprays the water gun on her. She hits at him. I can't even breathe, I'm laughing so hard. After a little bit, he sets them down but not before she steals his hat. "Eh you can keep it." He says, waving a hand at her. She holds it tight to her head and runs off.
*after the party*
"What do we do with Sierra about us?" I ask, looking back at her. She's fast asleep in her car seat. He runs his hand through his hair. "Well she already calls me dad. And I well I kinda missed havin' a little girl call me that. It's been a while since the girls grew up." He says, staring hard at the traffic light. I like the idea of us being boyfriend and girlfriend. "What would have happened.... If soerra didn't interrupt us?" I ask, taking off my seatbelt and scooting over to him. "What would have happened? I'm not sure... Maybe this." He says, kissing me softly, a hand gripping my chin. Crimson colors my cheeks instantly. Someone honks a horn behind us. "Oh it's green." I mumble. We get back home and he carries Sierra in. "I missed being a dad to a little girl." "You don't have to miss it anymore." He smiles and turns on her Scooby doo nightlight. "You're right. Because I am not letting you go." He says, kissing me again, his hands on my neck. "You're beautiful." He says. "Thanks. I never really thought it but...." "I've been lookin' for a girl like you my whole life." "What do you mean?" I gasp. We lock eyes again. "I think you know what I mean." I don't. What does he mean? I just shrug it off. We walk hand in hand to the kitchen. "What's your poison?" He asks. "I'm a margarita girl." I reply, sitting down at the table. "What did you mean back there?" "You're not like ordinary girls. You've had to do things most people would be too afraid to do." "Like what?" I ask, confused. "Well for starters walking into a bar while holding a baby." My cheeks get red and he brings over a couple margaritas. "You saw that?" He nods. "I was in that bar, when I first saw you walk in with Sierra, I thought you were crazy!" I laugh. "No babysitter." I say, sipping my margarita. "You don't give up too. Ya don't see that much these days." "Oh my mama raised me that way. Don't ever give up. If you fall down get back up and cinch the saddle tighter." He smiles. "That's the kinda girl, I've always wished I'd find." "Now you found me." "I sure did." He says, kissing me.
*the next day*
I wake up to the smell of bacon and eggs. I notice I'm in Jason's room. I fix my hair and walk downstairs.
Jason's pov
"Oh mama's awake, go distract her." I say, quickly. Sierra runs out of the kitchen and I hear them talking. Just like she's not like most girls, I'm not like most guys. I do know how to cook. "Ok I'll be there in a second, I wanna say good morning." Uh oh. She walks in the kitchen and knowing there's no way I can hide this I just let her see it. "Wow, you're a chef!" I laugh. "If you can call it that." I call Sierra in. We eat breakfast. "Can I tell her, daddy?" I nod. "Mama, we're going to the opry! Daddy's singing on it!" She cries, climbing in her lap. "Really?" "Yeah they called me early this morning." "Well we better get you ready little miss." They go upstairs to get ready and I text Mike saying we'll be there in a few minutes.
*a couple hours later*
Miranda's pov
Eric walks offstage. Jason grabs his guitar and kisses my cheek. "See ya soon babe." My face gets red. We haven't told Sierra yet. He goes onstage singing She's country. "You and daddy just kissed." Sierra says, staring at me surprised. I nod. "Me and daddy love each other." She hugs me. "Yay!" She jumps out of my arms and runs for the stage. My eyes go wide alarmed. I'm about to chase after her but Mike stops me. "It's fine." He says, confusing me.
Jason's pov
The crowd looks sidestage and I'm singing the truth when Sierra stumbles onstage. "Hey what are you doin' crazy?" I ask, picking her up. "Mama said she loved you, daddy." She says, hugging my neck. I'm totally caught off guard. I didn't expect her to say that. "Oh uh.... Everybody this is Sierra my little girl. Sierra say hey to everyone." She waves to the crowd and they ooh and ahh. It's adorable. I finish off my songs and walk backstage. Miranda's face is so red. I can't help but laugh. "It's all good hun, things like that happen all the time." "Ok I was afraid you'd get in trouble." "Nah, the crowd was eating it up." She smiles and we go back home.
