Fast forwarding a few years to the summer before they start their 10th grade year. Ryan and Carrie have become the best of friends and are inseparable minus the times Carrie is with Rae and Ryan is with Scott or they are all together. Ryan however has a secret that only he has told Scott.

"Hey Carrie my family from Florida is over can you come over I want to introduce you. Your parents are already over here."

"Yeah sure thing Ryan, give me 5 minutes and I'll be over."

Carrie walked through the door with her American eagle ripped jeans, boots, and her long sleeve pink Guy Harvey shirt; all Ryan could do was to watch her walk through the door with a smile on his face. He loved her but he couldn't tell her because she was dating Luke Strait.

"Hey y'all I want to introduce you to my best friend Carrie, Tessa and Jerry's daughter." Ryan said as he put his arm around Carrie's shoulder pulling her towards the living room.

Everybody greeted her with warm smiles and lots of hugs. Carrie was as sweet as pie and so beautiful, everybody around her really admired her. One of Ryan's cousins pulled her aside and went up to the game room and had his arm over her shoulder as she stood up against the wall. Ryan uncomfortable with that idea kept a close eye on him. He kept trying to grab her butt and Carrie was trying to swat him away but he wouldn't stop. Ryan got up and yanked his cousin off the wall, now there was no stopping Ryan. He had very bad anger issues when it came to Carrie especially. (More background info: In 5th grade Carrie got teased and bullied and almost killed herself, but her friends and family got her through it. But Ryan found out who was starting it and got very worked up and beat a couple boys up.. he got suspended until his 6th grade year.)

"Hey she said quit it so I suggest that you take your hands off her right now!"

"Aw is Ryan protecting his little girlfriend, she may like it." His cousin taunted.

"You've made such a mistake you little schmuck!!!" Ryan screamed and the parents came running to the game room.

Carrie screaming for Ryan to stop punching him, she pulled on Ryan but it was no use because nothing stopped Ryan until Jim and Jerry pulled him off. Jerry gets hold of Ryan trying to calm him down. Nobody has seen Ryan like that since the 5th grade, Carrie rushes to Ryan holding his shoulders back to trying to calm him down. Jim picks up the cousin and asks what happens, Carrie explains what happened. Ryan's uncle tells his son to head downstairs because it's time to go back to the hotel for everybody to cool off.

"Ryan Hunt you need to get yourself under control we'll be in the kitchen when you think you can behave better." Kel firmly said as her and Carrie's parents walked downstairs.

"Ryan, you can't get so worked up over me. That's your family and you need to maintain a family relationship with him. You're my best friend and I know you're protecting me but there are better ways to handle it. Okay?" Carrie said all shaken.

"Okay, I'm sorry I just don't like what he was doing and I wanted to protect you (what he wanted to say I love you) you're my best friend. Only I can mess with you." Ryan said with a smile as he hugged Carrie.

"You jerk! Well hey movie night later with Scott and Rae? Luke is coming to get me and I'll be back later." Carrie said as she turned and started to walk back down stairs.

"Yeah, have fun with douche bag." Ryan mumbled so Carrie couldn't hear.
