Found Her Next Door

Chapter 12

A couple hours in Carrie was getting tired and just wanted to go home. She told Ryan to catch a ride home with Scott and Rae because this party was basically for him. He tried to refuse but Carrie always won the arguments, he felt a weird feeling but couldn't convince Carrie to stay or let him go with her. He told her to call him when she got home; she agreed said I love you, he said it back and she was on her way.

Carrie was driving down the road and this call Ryan was accepting was never going to come. On the other line of this call Carrie was strapped in a stretcher with her neck in a brace. Barely 5 minutes after the accident occurred 911 was there and called her parents to meet them at the hospital. A couple players from Ryan's team saw Carrie's car smashed and her on the stretcher. They called Ryan and told him he needs to go to the hospital now, Carrie's in trouble. With no hesitation Ryan grabbed Scott and Rae then raced to the hospital.

The players arrived to the hospital before her parents and told them what the crashed had looked liked. There was blood everywhere, not just on her but everywhere else. The driver in the other car was dead, but no blood from him. Carrie's parents fell to their knees hugging, crying for their baby girl to come out safe and to live. Ryan busted into the hospital and demanded to know where she was and what happened; he saw her parents and ran over to them. They explained to them what they knew; a doctor then approached them about 3 hours later asking who the parents were.

"We are Mr. and Mrs. Taylor, is our daughter okay, what's going to happen to her." Her mother demanded

"Ma'am you're daughter is in the ICU on life support and we are doing the best we can. She has lots of both internal and external damages. We have fixed what we can and now it's up to her body to fight for her to live."

Ryan didn't like the news and demanded to see her. They explained that this was her fiancé and it was okay for him to go back there. We walked in the room to see his princess with a face of hurt. He couldn't help but run to her side, grab her hand and fall crying. Her parents walked in and didn't hold it together well either, the doctor said that Carrie can hear she just can't speak. So they just talked to her, Ryan sang her favorite songs both "Mine" and "You Belong With Me" by Taylor Swift. Ryan didn't leave her side until Friday night when they coach met with both the football team and cheerleading squad to update about the game tomorrow and comfort Ryan.

"Ryan, sweetheart come on tonight you can sleep in your own bed, Carrie will be okay until the after the game tomorrow." Carrie's mom handed him off to Scott and Rae.

It was an hour before the game and he called Mrs. Taylor he wanted to talk to Carrie. He told her he loved her and he would keep her promise about the baby trying to keep a laugh in there. Then Mrs. Taylor told him that her heart monitor got a little faster when he told her that, it made him feel so much better.

The game was to the 30 seconds and this touchdown was the one that could win the game. Ryan looked to the cheerleaders wanting to see his princess but she was not there. He called a timeout and ran to the bench to pull it together. He didn't want his boys to see him cry, but they all gathered around him and assured him she was in his heart watching and that's what mattered. The last offensive play was about to start and a video began to play; it was Carrie from their last high school game blow him a kiss the camera panned to him and he caught it and put it to the heart. Flashback between then and now the same play was executed by Ryan and Scott.

"OUR 4TH CONSECUTIVE CHAMPIONSHIP HAS JUST BEEN WON BY ROLL TIDE!!!"

Everybody storms the field and holds up Ryan and Scott when a phone rings everybody is silent.

"Ryan I need you" Carrie so quiet and soft says into the phone to Ryan

Ryan rushes out with most people following. He makes it to the hospital still in his uniform carrying hers in his hand. His rushes into the room and sees her parents. They kissed her and whispered how much they loved her and their final goodbyes but Ryan couldn't hear. She told them she loved them. Ryan kneels down next to her and puts the uniform with her I bed she lets out a small smile.

"I love you, forever and always, just remember our promise okay? Good bye my love. I really love you" Carrie lets out her final words

"Baby please, I love you, I'll name him Brantley just like you've always wanted. But please don't leave not yet. "He cried so gentle knowing there was nothing he could do. "Forever and always princess." He continues to cry as he listens to her heart machine beep for a second then stops.

Ryan holds onto her know cold hand for good 20 minutes; he refused to leave her side. It took Rae and Scott to get Ryan to let go, he kissed her forehead and grabbed her uniform. He walked out to the waiting room and fell into her parents lap. Everybody stood in silence.
