"Ferris," Jacob grumbled disdainfully and quietly to himself in order to keep his words from Katherine's ears, his eyes positioned on the polluted and artificial sky. "I'm coming."
"Where to now?" Katherine inquired lightly once she'd taken her eyes away from her surroundings and averted them to Jacob, wonderingly staring up at the taller Assassin.
Jacob didn't chance a glance down at her, his dark colored eyes always widely alert and darting from building to building, window to window and from citizen to citizen.
Katherine watched him attentively, taking note of the way his eyes took in every detail he could attain.
"Time to head for higher ground." He said decidedly, sternly nodding his head once. He wrapped his gloved hand around Katherine's small and frail wrist, gently pulling her along with him. "Good at climbing?" He asked, peering down at her for half a heartbeat.
He instantly regretted his words, recalling that Katherine had been locked away in a factory for most of her life with cruelly tiny sized meals and little to no exercise. It was a wonder she had kept herself as healthy as she had.
Her eyebrows furrowed, her eyes cast downward, looking a little unsure of herself and her capabilities. Jacob watched her with more focus, wondering if maybe taking her along with him wasn't the grandest of ideas.
Perhaps she was much too precious to follow the Creed?
Jacob's thoughts were sent away when Katherine stiffened at once, still scowling at the ground, she shrugged with a little more confidence.
"I'll manage." She grumbled bravely, her jaw tightening as she brought her courageous eyes away from the cobblestone. She squared her shoulders, meeting Jacob's gaze. She nodded, her eyes soft as she looked up at him.
Jacob blinked his eyes away, eyebrows furrowing as he thought over how admirable and respectable she was — not that he'd admit aloud to such thoughts.
Jacob, not finding out if Katherine would follow, turned and took off into a steady sprint, running along side the train tracks and towards Ferris Ironworks docking station.
Katherine hurried to speed up, forcing herself to match Jacob's speed and pace.
Suddenly, a muscular guard in a flaming red jacket caught her eye and as the man began to turn in their direction, Katherine reached out, her hand clutching around Jacob's solid arm and tugging him to the side, pulling him behind a carriage.
He grunted in thanks, not pausing and instead continuing on behind the train carriage.
Soon, the Ferris Ironworks docking station came into their line of sight. Katherine's breath hitched as she thought over how many times she'd wished she'd be granted access to work in the docking station and not in the cruel environment of the factory itself.
Jacob paused behind the carriage once that were in the docking station, glancing at Katherine's smaller form over his shoulder. He jerked his head towards the back wall of the station to where a ladder sat, attached to the overseer's balcony.
Nodding understandingly, Katherine lowered herself into a crouch like Jacob and began following him slowly. She only prayed that her footsteps wouldn't catch any guard's attentions.
