Katherine continued to follow Jacob, who kept quiet their entire journey. She couldn't help but wonder what would happen to her next. Would she be free? Or would she, again, be tied to a life of only doing what she was told?
Her stiff arms swayed by her side as she kept her tired eyes plastered to the ground, keeping to her thoughts. Soon Jacob began to slow to a halt, querulous eyes set on the distant sky.
Katherine stopped behind him, curiously following his eyes. She scanned the sky with squinted eyes but saw nothing out of the normal. "What is it?" She asked, turning her interested frown back to Jacob.
"Nothing." Jacob scowled, still not taking his eyes away from the beginning of a colourful sunsetting sky. "I thought I heard an explosion."
Katherine stood tensely, watching the sky for a new more moments. Suddenly, a flame red mushroom cloud erupted into the sky, blended with mixes of orange and black, followed by a loud boom. Katherine flinched back a step as Jacob continued to watch with widened eyes.
As the cloud began to fade, Jacob lowered and shook his head, mumbling, "Damn it, Evie." Without explanation, he continued to walk, not looking back to ensure Victoria was still following.
Curiously, Katherine watched him walk off. "Who's Evie?" She queried as she hurried over to walk beside him, glancing up at his stern face.
"My sister." Is all he responded with.

Jacob perched himself on a crate by the train trains, elbows perched on his thoughts as he fiddled with his hidden blade. His head remained down as his thoughts over the explosion kept him occupied. Not only was he to worry about the explosion Evie may or may not have caused, but he still couldn't think of a way to explain Victoria to his sister. She'd give him a long lecture for certain, but he was still convinced he'd done the right thing.
Glancing up at the sound of hurried footsteps along the cobblestone, Jacob watched as Evie bounded towards him, doubling over as she panted, gasping for air.
"What was that explosion?" He asked in a flatly, looking down on his sister with concealed amusement.
"What explosion?" She heaved between uneven breaths, keeping her hands on her knees.
"Evie?" He continued playfully, glancing at her sideways as she finally stood up, wiping the sweat from her forehead.
"The Piece of Eden detonated and took the lab with it." She admitted darkly, her face with red with strain as she stared at where the mushroom cloud was still dispersing.
Jacob keenly straightened from his hunched position as he known all along. "The magic lump of hyperbolic metal?" He asked, launching himself from the crate into a standing position. "I'm shocked." He murmured sarcastically.
Rolling her eyes, Evie kept her back turned to him. "Simply because you have never valued the Pieces, does not mean —"
"All went according to plan, hmm?" Someone asked behind the twins, clearing his throat as he neared them.
Evie, giving another roll of her eyes, slowly turned towards the new voice. "There was a slight complication." She admitted without regret.
