Shortly after Ray had moved out of her parents' house, they decided to get a cat--totally not to replace their only child since she's flown the coup, they've always wanted one, it's definitely not because they don't have anyone to coddle anymore.

Ray was a little upset that they never got one when she lived there, especially since Ashton doesn't do cats, which will leave her kitty-less until she gets her own place. Everyone tells her that she wont be able to properly tend to it, being blind and all, which they're kind of right, but she wants a cat; she'll find a way.

They let her name it, and after a day of thinking, she used her key to get in, rushed to their bedroom, and yelled, "Catti LaBelle!"

Of course they didn't know what she was talking about for a moment, considering it was seven in the morning on their day off, but when they caught on they thought it was adorable and clever.

Ever since then, Ray would find time to visit her on the weekends, and fortunately for her, it's a Saturday and she had nothing to do, so that meant a cat visit.

While Ray sits on her old couch, lazily stroking Catti on the back, or whatever furry part she fits under Ray's hand, Luke pulls up into her and Ashton's driveway. He is always careful to keep the bumper of his car a respectable distance from Ashton's, simply because they don't talk enough to the point where Ashton wouldn't try to throttle him if they thumped bumpers.

Luke gets out of his car, runs both of his hands together over his fringe, then walks up to the door. He's always liked the dark wood; it's a weird thing to take a liking to, but the door is the first thing you see when you go to someone's house, so it's not really that weird.

The blond boy knocks five times, exhaling as he rocks back on his heels, patiently waiting to see Ray's glowing face pop out from behind the door. It's only been a day, if that, since he saw her, but he had already made it up in his mind that he was coming to see her this particular Saturday.

Instead of beautiful brown skin and, somehow kempt, dark curls of hair, Luke sees basically the opposite and tries not to look so offended that Ashton, who pays the bills in this house, answered his own door.

Ashton smiles warmly at Luke, glancing at his car, probably to check for Ray or something, Luke doesn't know, but he smiles back. "Hey, Ashton, where's Ray?" He asks, trying to subtly scan their living room for her.

"Oh, she's at her parent's house." Ashton explains, pointing a finger at the home next door. Luke gives him a lopsided grin when he notices that the nail on the finger is painted a silvery color, then scrunches up his eyebrows, because wait, they do live right there, don't they?

Luke has momentarily forgotten that Ray and her parents are minimum nine feet away from each other, since he hasn't met them yet, or been to their house.

He nods, to himself and Ashton, then sticks his hands in his front pockets as far as the tight fit will allow. "Alright," Luke pauses and gestures to his car the best he can with his shoulder and upper body. "Can I leave my car here?"

It makes literally no sense to get back in his car and drive the small distance, when he could clearly walk through the grass separating the two houses. Of course though, he has to make sure it's okay, since he would be taking up space that's not his.

"Nah, it's gotta go." Ashton quickly responds, putting on a serious face and sizing Luke as he leans against the door frame.

"What the--why?" Luke questions, taking his hands out of his pockets and balling them into fists by his side. He's both confused and irritated because two seconds ago, Ashton was happy-go-lucky with him, now he's acting like this.
