The night's ball was even more livelier than the one before. Lively dancing music played loudly, and the four lords were drinking so much beer....
"C'mon, Punzie! It isn't that bad!" Merida said, holding out the mug.
Rapunzel wrinkled her nose at the drink, shaking her head. "No thanks, Meri." She said. Merida shrugged, downing the drink and tossing the empty mug quickly as Elinor walked past.
A drunk Snoutlout walked over. "Fancy a dance, pretty lady?" He smirked at Rapunzel. Rapunzel bit her lip, not sure how to refuse politely. At that moment, Jack walked over. "Snoutlout." He greeted coolly, a hand on his shoulder. Snoutlout stiffened at his voice. "Trying to flirt with my fiancé?" Jack asked, a glint in his eyes. Snoutlout gulped, scampering off.
"Wow. What did you do the lad?" Merida asked.
"Oh, nothing much, really." Jack grinned.
"He beat him in plenty of duels." Hiccup said. "And pretty much humiliated him."
Jack smirked. "I couldn't resist." He said. Turning to Rapunzel, he held out a hand. "Shall we dance?" He asked as a merry tune started in the background. Rapunzel grinned, taking his hand. "Lets." She said.
After several dances, Hiccup pulled Merida aside. "I wanted to give you this." He took out a ring. "A promise ring." He said.
"It's beautiful." Merida said. He smiled, helping her put it on.
"I still can't believe you chose me." He said quietly.
"Well, believe it." Merida said. She leaned up, kissing him gently. "I love you, dragon tamer." She said.
"Love you too, princess."

Hiding behind the wall, Jack and Punzie stood watching the two. Punzie sighed. "So romantic." She murmured.
"Hey, I'm romantic too." Jack said, kissing her cheek.
Punzie giggled. "Well, our work is done." She said. "They're finally together."
"Yup." Jack said. "And we'll all ride off into the sunset, happily ever after." He grinned.
"You took that quote from my book, didn't you?"
"Maybe." Jack smirked. "Ok, time to disappear before they realise we're here...."
