"What do you think, Punk? Pikachu?" I held up the T-shirt with the mouse Pokemon printed on it for him to see.
"Looks good to me," he said. I fingered through more shirts, but eventually I decided I wanted the Pikachu one. Everyone does school better with a Pikachu shirt.
Hot Topic always had good back-to-school clothes. This shirt would be paired with my favorite pair of jeans, come next Monday.
Actually, I really didn't want to think about next Monday...that would be the day when Punk would go off to UFC High, while I would continue life as regular at WWE High.
I shook off the thought. This wasn't Monday. This was still summer vacation, and I was at the mall with Punk. I wasn't going to let anything ruin this for me.
Once we paid and left, I checked out the other stores. I wasn't too interested in any of them, but I noticed Red Robin was on our left. And I noticed that it was lunch time.
I asked Punk about grabbing a burger, and minutes after he agreed we were seated comfortably in a booth.
I was checking out the menu, thinking of drink options when I noticed three familiar faces shuffle into the booth across from us.
"This must be a smaller city than I thought," I said to Punk," because I bump into students from WWE High almost everywhere I go." I nodded to the booth across the aisle.
Seth, Randy, and Kane started whispering to each other almost as soon as they sat down. I heard the word "Ambrose" come up a few times, which probably meant they weren't talking about anything good.
Almost three months had passed since the Shield's fall out, and everyone knew that Seth wasn't on speaking terms with Roman. We all knew how he and Dean felt about each other.
If Seth was making some sort of plan involving Dean, with two of the people who hate him almost as much as Seth does, then Dean may have a hard time when he comes back to school on Monday. He can probably handle it, but maybe I should give him a heads up...
A waitress came into view, blocking the Authority's table. "Have you two decided on drinks?" she asked.
Once we ordered and she returned to the kitchen, more trouble came our way. Was it attracted to us or something?
"OMG, did you hear the news? Nikki dumped John."
The Total Divas were here, and gossiping furiously--Alicia Fox was the one who gave the news about John and Nikki. Why were they here at the same time I was? Granted, it was time for lunch, but...I didn't want them ruining my day with Punk.
"I don't know what was up with Nikki. I didn't think she'd go for the straight-A student at all. I'd prefer a bad boy," remarked Eva Marie, flipping her hair.
Summer Rae put her hands on her chest in a romantic way. "Yeah, but... John's such a hunk!"
"If this was at wrestling practice, I would fight them," I murmured.
"Just ignore them, April. They'll leave us alone." Punk said as he looked over the lunch menu.
Turns out, ignoring them wouldn't do any good. Even if I was just sitting there staring at the different burgers on the list(which I was), then they would still come over to chat with me anyway (which they did).
"Well, well, well. April-Jeanette Lee. What a pleasure to see you here this afternoon!" laughed Cameron.
"Oh no, the pleasure's all mine," said Punk. As the Divas were coming from behind his side of the booth, they hadn't noticed he was sitting there. "You have something important to tell us or what?"
Some of their mouths were closed. Some were wide open with surprise. Nothing was heard from them until Summer Rae spoke up. "Oh, uh, hi Phil. We didn't know you were here." They backed away as our waitress returned with our drinks. "We'll leave you two to drink your Pepsi or whatever." They returned giggling to a table, which they must have gotten before coming to us.
"Sorry for interrupting your talk with those ladies. Are you ready to order lunch?" the waitress asked.
"You weren't interrupting anything. I'll have a cheeseburger," I stated.
Punk ordered a bacon burger, and once again the waitress was gone.
"So do you really think John broke up with Nikki? Or was that just a rumor spread by the Total Divas?" I asked Punk.
"Could be either. But let's just not talk about John or the Divas. There's plenty other interesting subjects, we don't need to stoop to gossiping about Cena's love life. And if it is a rumor, we don't need to bring pleasure to those girls by talking about it."
So, we didn't. We talked about our family, we talked about Call of Duty, we talked about sports. And we managed to avoid talking about people at school, or anything to do with school. Which was good, because I didn't want to think about going back, knowing I'd be alone. Going back with Paige as my enemy and women champion of the school.
Maybe the guys across the aisle were done discussing their super secret plans, because they left before we did, so we even got to sit without them staring at us from across the aisle
Even if we'd hear the loud laugh of a Diva once in a while, it was still a peaceful afternoon we spent at Red Robin. The burgers were delicious, the drinks refreshing, and it was the last day we'd spend alone before we went to different schools.
This was the kind of memory that you'd keep in the back of your mind to pull out for rainy days.
And I feel like on Monday, it's going to pour.
