Kota

I looked around to see that the others have already settled down around Nathan's coffee table. But my attention was on one person in particular, who was busy writing away on her clipboard.

Sang Sorenson. I have never seen her or heard of her before. I didn't know why I was wondering why I haven't. Perhaps it was because of her unique name. She was sitting beside Victor, not saying a word to anyone unless she needed to. The others were already engaging in small conversation, but I saw them glancing at her every now and then.

She was a curious little thing. Her hair was a mess on her head. Her bangs covered most of her face and her eyes, with the help of a pair of awful glasses. Her small frame was covered in baggy clothes: a loose shirt and jeans. The only things that were her size were probably her black and pink sneakers. She hardly talked. Whether it was because she was shy or didn't like talking, I didn't know. It seemed like she was trying very hard to be invisible, to blend into the background. I was never one to care about outfits and such, but boy was she a fashion disaster. I looked at Gabriel. He was clearly uncomfortable looking at her, but kept his mouth shut. I fought the urge to laugh.

She suddenly looked up from her clipboard and turned to me. This drew the four others' attention.
"Mr. Lee, you are the leader, yes?" she asked. Her voice was soft and gentle, and after hearing it, I wanted to look at her properly. I didn't know why I thought there was something about her that I wanted to find out.
"You can call me Kota," I said as I made my way over to one of the chairs in front of her, "and yes, that's me." I smiled. She immediately looked down at the clipboard on her lap after meeting my eyes for a second. She resumed writing while I just stared at her curiously. I looked at each of my brothers and saw that they all had curious expressions on their faces as well. Victor shrugged when he met my eyes.
"Will you all be together tomorrow?" she asked, eyes still on the paper, fingers writing.
"For a short while. Mr. Blackbourne and Dr. Green will have to leave by afternoon, like today."
She nodded, wrote something, and faced me. "I can only be in one place at a time. So I'll be following one person individually if you split up. Do you mind if I followed you around today?"
If it were any of the previous managers we had before, I would have been very tempted to say that I did mind. But with this girl, I wasn't so sure. Not that I had the option to say no, really. She was just being polite.
"If you're going to be following Kota, you're going to get fucking bored." Gabriel was snickering, followed by Nathan and Silas. Victor couldn't help himself either . I knew that they were smirking at the memory of how one manager complained that I was the most boring person to follow. And I don't blame her for it. I purposefully decided to give her the most uneventful show ever so that she'd leave me alone. And I wasn't the only one. The others have tried similar tactics. It's not that we weren't social, or the we despised her or any of the others. Academy members are all wonderful people, but we were just tired of somebody besides our family sticking to us for days.
"It doesn't matter," Sang said quietly, surprising us. When she didn't say anything else, we didn't press her for more words as she looked like she wanted to be left alone.
It looked like we weren't going to be bothered by her after all. The few hours she was here, she kept to herself, saying only what she needed to say and answering whatever we asked her. I almost suspected that Mr. B picked her himself.
I started to see the irony in this reverse situation, where we are the ones getting curious and she is the quiet one.
