RECAP;
He'd expect her to be the perfect house wife. He'd expect her to be the perfect mother.
He'd expect her to be me.
Or, rather, He'd expect me to be her. To be that.
The thought made my skin feel like busting into hives. Modern suburbia? A soccer mom?
Me?
I loved James, I really did, but I could not do that. I could not be that. I was not a house wife. I was not that woman. My life expectancy was twenty five, and I was twenty two now! I couldn't be that.
I just couldn't.

***CHAPTER 25***
"Ohhhhhhh," Danny made the universal 'I-feel-your-pain' face. "Trouble in paradise, huh? That's rough." the black and blue streaked hair that I loved so much was pulled back, and dark brown eyes stared at me sympathetically.
"What do I do?" I whined, sounding more like a valley girl than a spy.
A delicate snort made me turn my head to where Amanda was cleaning a Glock. "Come on, Aunt Kat." my five year old niece piped up. I looked at her. The image would look ridiculous to an outsider, I was sure. A five year old little girl in a white sundress with bouncy brown curls that resembled a darker version of my brothers, wide eyes identical to her mother's, sitting cleaning a Glock like a professional.
"You like him, right? He's like a prince charming. Then you can become a mommy and move into a castle and live happily ever after."
Yep.
Amanda had only recently hit the "Fairytale" obsession stage.
"But, I'm never getting married." Amanda suddenly declared while rubbing a cloth over the silver barrel. I raised an eyebrow, an action this five year old could identify.
"Boys have cooties." she clarified matter-of-factly.
"Hmm-hmm." I murmured. Amanda placed the Glock down and picked up an old six chamber revolver, beginning to clean that.
Danny was sitting cross legged and Indian style on the floor, cleaning the blades and knives scattered around her. I sat in front of her in black cut off jean shorts, a red tank top, black sneakers and my hair pulled back and the green emerald on its chain resting between my breasts. She was looking gorgeous as usual in loose fitting white billowy pants and a blue blouse. I was sharpening each knife after she cleaned them.
"I should warn you, though, Aunty Kat." Amanda perked again, her sweet angels voice making me look up. "If he hurts you in any way," Amanda said, and watched as she cocked the gun, smiling devilishly. "Daddy and I are gonna tie him up for shooting practice."
Danny smiled at her daughter next to me.
"That's my girl."
I laughed. "I've got to go." I said, rising from my sitting position and brushing nonexistent dirt off of my shorts. "Amy and I are meeting for lunch and I managed to get James to spend the day with Cameron and my brother, so yea."
With a smile, I kissed Ambers cheek and hugged Danny. "Bye." I said, walking out the door and pulling out the keys to the Jeep.
***
"Ouch." Amy mumbled around a mouth full of some Italian dish. "Sounds like trouble in paradise." I glanced at her sideways. "Have you been talking to Danny?" I asked, taking a sip of my soda water. She raised a brow in response. I waved away the unasked question.
