RECAP;

"Tell me where the Alumni code is." I sighed in frustration. "WHAT THE HELL IS THE ALUMNI CODE!?" I yelled. "I don't know what it is!" I wailed.

His lips twitched into a lopsided smirk. "Too bad. Such a waste. I would have loved to keep you and your sexy blond friend as prisoners. Yes. I could see it working. Nothing but chains and whips for you two. Hmm, I think I like that." I glared at him, the sick bastard. What the hell had happened to him? Lance used to be a high school friend.

"Too bad. Any way, chaio." Then, finally, he said something that absolutely, positively floored me.

"The Illuminati send their regards." Right before he pressed the button, and the bomb's detonator was activated.

***CHAPTER 26***

I think the first time I'd ever heard about the Illuminati I was a little girl. I was watching a movie, what was it? Oh, yea. It was a Lara Croft movie.

When I hit my teens, I did a project on any conspiracy theory, and I chose the Illuminati. The supposed people that ran the world. Some sort of panel of the worlds finest and worst to run it. They decided everything, one would assume. Who lived, who died. I figured; Well hello, nut job conspirators.

But the thought that Lance had anything to do with them confused me. Obviously the Alumni code had something to do with the Illuminati. Another thing that made no sense. The term ALIMNI meant a male graduate. What the hell? He illuminati were individuals said to have received spiritual or intellectual enlightenment. Still, all these thoughts came later. After the little green light began to flash.

Amy and I took a running start toward the window. I'd seen what that Bomb was designed for. It was designed to direct a blast sideways and up, not down.

I grabbed the bottom corner on the inside of the curtain, right before I made the leap. The sound of class cracking came about a second before the explosion. A second was just enough. I felt the curtain ripping in half, almost doubling its lengthways length as I swung in a wide ark, flying toward a window on the floor below, Amy at my side. Before the second window broke, I heard it. The loud, echoing boom that left my ears ringing. Amy and I crashed through the window and rolled onto the floor together, clinging desperately to each other like chimps during a fall while tucking our heads in.

There was a moment of silence, before the ceiling above us came crashing down. Bits of it remained stable but the rest all came down on us in a pathetic, crumbling mess that felt like I was having gravel rained on my body. A minute later, Amy raised her head from the crook of my neck. "Shit." she breathed. I raised my head and looked up....

At a blue California sky.

"Ah." I said, nonchalantly. "So THAT'S how one puts in a skylight."

With that, we were in a fit of laughter.

"You're absolutely certain?" James asked, looking me in the eyes. "If he asks again, I swear I'll shoot him." I said in an exasperated tone, looking at Amy. She raised the gun she was reloading. "I could do it. Please? Save you the trouble?" she said the last part enticingly.

"If any one's shooting him, its me." I informed her, rising from the couch and pushing James out of my way. I saw hurt flash across his gorgeous features, but I ignored it.

"Yes, James. I'm sure." I answered his earlier question. "He said; 'The Illuminati send their regards.' Which, by the way, is weird." I told him, walking across the room.

We were currently staying in a cheap motel. Myself, James, Amy, Carl, Danny, Cameron, and Dimitri, who'd recently flown up when he heard our predicament, now sat in Amy's and my room. This consisted of two dodge looking beds, one raggedy couch, a crappy tv and a questionable kitchenette. Danny was in a room with Carl. Dimitri, Cameroon and James were sharing a room where it was clear James would occupy the couch.
