Artemis went to the mall with her mother Halloween day to shop for her Homecoming dress, shoes, and accessories. She was so excited she could barely concentrate on shopping! She bounced around from store-to-store until she finally found her perfect dress. It was a royal blue, and cinched at the waist. She smiled at herself in the mirror. This is the one  she thought. She twirled, feeling gorgeous already, as if she'd just stepped onto the homecoming scene. She giggled at the thought of the look on Cam's face when he saw her... and she imagined how they'd dance together, and to what song..

Her phone dinging snapped her out of her daydream, and it was Cam! But when she read the message... her heart drooped a little.

Hi baby, I'm going out of town Homecoming weekend, so I won't be able to go..

She sighed. It was pointless to shop for a dress then. She no longer had a reason to go. But.. it was her sophomore Homecoming. This one would be better than the last. So, she wouldn't get her dream dance, or date, or night, but she could make the most of it. She text back a quick 'Kay and continued to shop, her heart a little heavy but she was okay, so far. She was going to have fun, Cameron there or not, it would be a magical night. She just preferred for him to be there.

The Next Morning

Artemis saw Cameron waiting for her by the window again and ran into his arms, giving him a quick little kiss. "Hi, baby." he said to her through kisses, and she giggled. They walked up the stairs to her locker together, fingers clasped. Artemis was a tad mad about homecoming, but he was here now and that's all that really matter, wasn't it?

Wasn't it?
