I might not be close
A might be too far
I might not be who you want me to be
But I'm the person your longing for
As our existence crumbles now
Pieces laying at our feet
Nothing left on the horizon
As the horizon is now a distant dream
We grab hold of each other
Eyes filled with dread, fear and oh so many tears
Wanting to let go
No strength left to hold on
But realizing its not possible
As we are both etched into each other
Etched into a string
A string some call life
A string we call love
A string so fragile and thin
Yet the strongest thing we know to exist
I might not be able to save you
To comfort you when you need but that string remains
It remains the only thing keeping us sane
So with this I say I love
Believe it if you want
Don't if you choose to
But no matter what the choice
Deep down inside
That tugging feeling your feeling right now
Knows you do
Knows you believe
And scream back so do you
As I feel the tugging of that string myself
