So I guess this is it.
Happy birthday
How are you?
We haven't spoken in what seemed like years and years
Although in truth we have had so many
Opportunities to converse, to
Mend our friendship
Or what's left of it.
Everyday I walk on eggshells
Around you
Afraid of provoking you,
Of garnering more hatred
In you
(If that is even possible).
But you should know
That the black ink doesn't only
Taint my side, but yours too.
Please don't forget that.
I'm still holding on to that tennis ball
Of hope that one day, you
Would see
Reason and return
To me.
(If that is even possible).
But till then I choose to say:
Be happy, stay happy; no problem there though, I know you are.
The ball is in your court
I'm up for a game, anytime.

A/N: the tennis ball is used as a symbol of youth. Broken relationships are only a part and parcel of life, it comes alongside youth because we are so silly, ignorant and dramatic we tend to overreact and spoil every good thing that comes our way. despite the pain it brings us, the game must continue, so we must learn to control that ball and play it well.
