Chapter 3: The new boss

After weeks and weeks of battling people that have gone through the portal Axel decides to have a break for just one night. Then Zuzu floats through the window. "So who are we after today" asks Zuzu. "Last night's idiot still won't say anything and now the others are all huddling around him so Luca can't read his mind" sighed Axel. "Aww. So what do you want to do?" asks Zuzu. "What do you want to do?" asks Axel. Zuzu looks up at the time. "The market is starting soon?" replied Zuzu. "To the market we go" replied Axel. They both float out of the window and fly towards the market but as they approach the market something is wrong. "There's no one here" says Zuzu. "That's weird there are normally hundreds of people here on market day" replies Axel. Zuzu pacing up and down in a straight line thinking about what is going on whilst Axel looks around the market to see if there are any clues. Zuzu gasps in shock as she figures it out. "I know what's going on!" shouts Zuzu. "What is it?" asks Axel. "All of our prisoners are people who run market stalls" reveals Zuzu. "Oh yeah" says Axel. "Doesn't that mean there must be something to do with the person who opened the portal and the market?" questions Zuzu. "Yeah but what is the link?" asks Axel. "Well it can't be any of the market stall owners. It must be someone higher?" replied Zuzu. "There is no one above a market stall owner they don't have bosses" replied Axel. "We can't go back and ask the prisoners" sighed Axel. "What about the person who takes the rent?" questioned Zuzu. "Yeah probably all of the prisoners did go to Earth to collect things for their stalls. So they probably could get more money for the rent" says Axel. "I think we're onto something? says a very excited Zuzu. Axel's nose stretches out and he turns his nose into and wolf snout then he starts to sniff around. "I think I'm on to something" says Axel. "How do you know what you're smelling for?" asks Zuzu. "Money has a smell" jokes Axel. Axel starts to walk in wiggly line but he is heading north towards a small building near the market. As they get there they notice the lock on the door has been destroyed and the door is a little bit open. "This doesn't seem safe Axel" says a very scared Zuzu. "You'll be fine I'm here to keep you safe" says Axel. They slowly open the door and enter the building. As they enter the building they see a massive portal on the far wall behind a desk of a tall man with red skin wearing a suit and holding a glass of scotch but the desk is covered in thick grey ashes with a glass on its side on the floor. "Axel come look at this" whispers Zuzu. "What's up?" whispers Axel. As Axel approaches the desk he sees a gold name tag that reads Mr Greenhult and hiding just behind that is a stack with dried crimson blood on the tip with Greenhult engraved into it. They both take a step back and look at each other. "Who is this?" asks Zuzu. "I don't know but I bet that camera knows" says Axel. They both look at the camera and start to follow the cable that leads from the camera into the wall then it returns outside of the wall and runs along the edge of the floor. They follow the cable to a screen that is under the desk. It slides out from under the desk and turns on and Axel and Zuzu can see themselves on the screen so they start to rewind the footage. They get to a part of the tape where they see a red figure wearing a suit speaking to Mr Greenhult. "This might be it" says Zuzu. In a split second the mood changes and the red figure starts to shout at Mr Greenhult. Then Mr Greenhult reaches under the desk and quickly strikes and attacks the red figure with a stack. The red figure seems unfazed by the attack and grabs the stack in his chest, pulls it out and places it on the desk. Then the red figure grabs Mr Greenhult by the wrist and starts to burn him. Then Mr Greenhult starts to scream in pain then the red figure takes a deep breath and exhales fire and in one big breath Mr Greenhult is ashes on the desk and floor. Then the red figure opens a portal underneath him and goes through it. Zuzu and Axel stop the footage and slides it back under the desk. They are both speechless and leave the small building as they found it as they get outside Zuzu says something. "Do you think the red figure who killed Mr Greenhult is now running the market" asks Zuzu. "I don't know I think we have to asks some of the prisoners" sighs Axel. They both float back to the castle where Luca is still trying to read the mind of the new prisoner. "If you don't move away from the prisoner I will have to force you to move" threatens Luca. Axel and Zuzu walk down to the dungeons where they meet Luca sitting on the floor looking through the gate. "Luca got anything yet?" ask Axel. "No there being as stubborn as always" replies Luca. "I've got something that will make them move" reveals Axel. "Hey listen up we've got some news!" shouts Zuzu. "The man who collects your money from your market stalls is dead and he has been for two weeks" says Axel. All of the prisoners start to laugh. "That's a good one" laughs Fangs. "It's not a joke! Someone killed him burnt him alive" says Zuzu. Well how did he open the portal a week ago remember if the creator of the portal dies doesn't it close" says One eyed Bill. "What was that?" asks Luca. One eyed Bill quickly turns around but Luca catches him and reads his mind. "Mr Greenhult opened the portal a week ago so the market stall owners could get more products to sell because he had increased the rent and no one could afford it. Also Mr Greenhult had some business to do on earth" reveals Luca. "That's probably why it's unstable so the new Mr Greenhult could come in and out of the portal whenever he wants" says Axel. Axel sighs and looks at his wristwatch and realises that it is late and he tells the others to go home and get some rest. Then Axel floats up to his room and he is just staring at a big board with all of the evidence they have collected so far. "If I look at this anymore my brain's going to explode" thought Axel. Then Axel gets into bed and lays there until he falls asleep.
