I walk down to the principal's office as slow as I can. Once I enter the office, I put my head down and try to pretend this isn't happening.
"Taylor Ashley Dawson." My mother says through her teeth as she steps into the office. I sit up straight and I can't even look her in the eyes.
"Mom," I start.
"No. I don't want to talk to you right now. May I ask why she was given a disciplinary note?" My mom asks as she takes a seat across from me.
"Well, Mrs. Dawson, Taylor was sent to my office for," My principal takes out my notice and reads it verbatim.
"It seems she was sent for 'using profane language towards another student' and 'disruption during an exam'." My mother grips the edge of the arm rest.
"What is her punishment?" My mom asks.
"1 day suspension." He clarifies. I grab my stuff and stand outside of the door when I see my teacher standing at the door. When they're finished, my mother walks straight past me.
"Mom, I'm sorry."
She ignores me.
"Mom,"
She ignores me.
I run to catch up with her and pull on her bag.
"What the hell did Cara say to you to make you angry?" She grits her teeth.
"H-Huh? What do you m-mean?" I twiddle with my fingers. She faces me completely, almost nose to nose.
"What did she say to you?"
"It was stupid. Nothing you would know about." I almost choke. What hell did my teacher tell her? She obviously knows. She turns around and continues to walk to the car. I go to the bathroom before I meet her to the car. When I get there, she has her head pressed against the steering wheel.
"M-Mom?" I stutter and tap her shoulder. She snaps and smacks my hand away and cranks the car up. We start the long road.
"What the hell does Cara mean about you and Luke? Have you two been- That's why you were in his room that night! Taylor you've been lying to me! You are sixteen. What the hell have you been thinking?! I don't even know what to say to you." She starts yelling and tears fill her eyes.
"I'm . . . I" I can't even make a sentence before tears fill my eyes as well.
"Luke has corrupted you! I can't believe you allowed this to happen! I raised you better than to fall into others' dark paths." She yells even more.
"Luke hasn't corrupted me. Luke isn't a bad guy." I say in a little more of a solid tone.
"Taylor, do not tell me he hasn't corrupted your mind. You would have never been sleeping around with someone at this age!" She spits. I have never seen this judgemental, rude side of my mom.
"It's not just sleeping around. There's meaning behind it. I'm old enough to make these decisions." I snap back. She almost laughs.
" 'Old enough' Taylor, you don't know what you're doing. What if you get pregnant?! You know better than to let Luke make these decisions for you."
"Luke didn't make those decisions for me! I chose to do it! Why aren't you understanding?!" I yell as we pull into the driveway. I get out of the car and storm into the house to see a relaxed Luke and Andrew on the couch. I look at Luke with a worried look.
"What's wrong, Taylor?" Andrew asks. The door swings open.
"Ask your son why he's been talking my teenage daughter into sleeping with him!" My mom screams. I start crying.
"Andrew, I wanted to!" I put my face in my hands. What the hell have we done?
"L...Linda, please believe me. I care about Taylor and I didn't talk her into anything." Luke stands up from the couch.
"Do not talk to me, Luke!" My mother yells even louder.
"Linda, please listen to the kids." Andrew says.
"Oh please, Andrew. Luke doesn't give a damn about Taylor!" My mom yells. Luke and I step into the other room. I hear them argue like never before . . . and it's all my fault.
"Luke,"
"Taylor," We both say and just look at each other. I put my head against a wall. Luke comes up and holds me.
"Get your hands off of her!" My mom yells. Luke steps away with his hands up.
"Mom, please stop acting like this. I'm sorry." I'm bawling my eyes out.
"Don't tell me what to do! You don't have to right to anything anymore! You've been sleeping around with...with him!" She yells. I don't know what to do. I run past her a grab the keys from the counter. I slam the door behind me and crank up the car. I leave my neighborhood make random turns. I don't know where the hell I'm going, but I'm scared.
