High school was a big step for me. It was a bit frightening to be honest. But then I met Marcel. When I first saw him, there was a heavenly glow radiating off him, for he was a god sent. I could tell even through the box TV our announcements played on. He was a senior and I was a freshmen. I knew it would never happen, but somehow the fates aligned. I'll start our story from the beginning...
•
It was high school initiation night when I saw him outside of school for the first time. He was with his friends by the bonfire that was blazing still ten feet up. Walking over to a few of my own friends I was stopped by someone covering my eyes.
"Guess who." The hands said with a deep masculine voice. I'd know that voice anywhere it was Cameron, my best friend since elementary school. He was a year older than me but at my old school I was in some of his classes because I am advanced in math, reading, and writing. One day in our math class he put gum in the hair of a girl who was bashing me. We've been friends ever since.
"Who?" I questioned as if I had no clue of his true identity.
"Don't pretend that you don't know."
"But that makes it so much more interesting," I replied in a whiny tone, while he took his hands off my eyes.
"Why are my dramatic entrances always ruined?"
"Maybe because they're awful."
"You know I'm going to have to make you pay for those words. Right?" At this point I started running.
Cameron's loud footsteps were pounding behind me and I turned my head to look at him and see how close he was, but before I got a chance to look, I ran into something. I thought it was a tree at first, but then a grunt came out of the tree. And I realized it was a person and they were on the ground and I was on top of them. Only seconds later, someone who - I can only guess was Cameron - landed on top of me, and it became a dog pile.
"Cameron get your heavy ass off of me!"
"Okay, okay just wait a second." And then the weight of a thousand elephants was lifted off of me and I could finally breath. The body that I was lying on top of began to speak.
" Hello there." It said as we were face to face.
"Hi." I froze, for it was him. It was Marcel.
"As much as I do truly enjoy this, can you get off of me?"
My cheeks heated up and I could feel I was as red as a fire truck. "I am so sorry, I didn't see you there and I was-"
Marcel laughed and said, "It's fine, really. I'd just like to stand back up now."
I pushed myself up off of him and spoke again. "Um... er.... sorry." God I sounded stupid.
"You're good. Hey I haven't seen you around here, are you a transfer?" He asked.
Cameron took this chance to bud into the conversation. "Nope she's just a freshmen."
"Coming from the all mighty sophomore." I replied in a snarky tone.
"Well I guess I'll see you around then." Marcel said.
"Yeah." Was all I said before he walked away.
"Well, that's a good way to start out your year. You're already falling for a senior." Cameron said, nudging my shoulder as we walked back to our friend circle.
"Damn, Cam. I missed your ridiculous puns."
"Awww, Sage, I missed you too," he said pulling me to his side.
"Yeah, yeah no need to get so mushy."
"You started it."
"You're such a four year old," I fought back. Cameron simply laughed. The rest of the journey to our friends was left in a comfortable silence. Once we got to the group of idiots, I was drowned in hugs from the other three of our friends along with hearing a few quick stories about their summers.
The five of us just randomly chatted for the next half hour until I was distracted by Cameron poking my arm and whispering, "Mr. Senior is looking over here." I immediately began searching, but I couldn't find him anywhere. "Do you even know his name?" He asked.
"Do you?" I questioned back.
"Yeah, he was in my lit class last year and I think my gym."
"And his name is?"
"Something with an M. Mason or Mark or something."
"Well you're definitely wrong. His name is Marcel." I said lifting my head a little higher to prove my point that I knew his name. Not that this did much for me since Cameron towered almost two feet above me. Right then Cassandra popped in between us.
"Are you guys talking about that Senior, Marcel?" She asked.
"Uh... yeah him." He answered her and then pointing at me. "Little miss freshman ran into him earlier.
"You mean you talked to him?" She asked me in awe.
"I dont think you could actually call it talking. She fell on him and was so starstruck she lacked all words." He told her much to my despise.
"I was not starstruck I just didn't know what to say after I plowed him down on accident. At least I apologized." I defended myself.
"I would tell you what you did, but words would not do the story justice. You part took in a handsome sandwich." He said chuckling.
"Wait a second..." Cassie questioned. "Who was the other piece of handsome?"
"Yours truly." Cameron replied with his award winning smile.
"Your such a dork." I told him.
"A handsome dork." He corrected.
"Yes, Cameron, you are the handsomest dork alive." I said leaning into him once again, and then we bid Cassandra goodbye.
Me and Cameron did a few circles around the area. Until we finally went into the woods that lined the property. Cameron offered out his arm for me to take, and I did gladly. There was something so calming about Cameron. A familiarity that gave a welcomed safeness. Cameron was never what one would call a brother, and to him I was never one to be called a sister. Cameron didn't really do the brother thing at all infact. He was like me in the fact that we're both only children. Cameron and my relationship was undefined and rightfully so.

Hi! I'm Elizabeth, one of the two and a half authors of Marcel Is Not His Name. First of all, thanks for reading!! I hope you liked it!! A lot of this story will be sarcastic jokes, all together, it's not a very 'serious story'. But only in the beginning. I promise you all, it will get more interesting.
Second of all, we just reached 100 reads!! Which is most of the reason why I'm writing this note. All of us authors will be celebrating because you got us to a fantastic place!!
We will try to update as often as possible, but since there are two authors and an editor, it takes a while for us to finalize a chapter.
Thanks for your patience and your reads.
XOXO,
Elizabeth
