I spent the rest of the day waiting for Cam to come over like he said he would when I texted him during second to last block. I knew my mom and dad wouldn't be home until later and I was longing for company. Lucky for me he obliged, saying he just had to get a ride from one of his lacrosse buddies since he - like me wasn't allowed to drive for a while.
It was just before 8 at night when Cam finally came over. He must have remembered where the spare key was since he walked in without warning. I smiled so wide when he walked in with a pail of ice cream, a huge bag of popcorn from one of the local fast food restaurants, and a copy of Supernatural season 10. "I would hug you, but getting up is too much work."
Cameron left out a quick laugh and said, "It's okay, I feel the love."
He set the food on the table and put in Supernatural, then grabbed a blanket and sat by me, covering us both.
"You know," I said "I'll probably end up getting pretty thirsty with all this food you brought..."
"Seriously?" He mumbled. "Okay. What do you want? Soda? Water?"
"Wanna brew some coffee for me?"
"Uh, no."
"But-"
"Fine." Cam grumbled as he stood and walked into my kitchen. I heard him turn the water on before the show finally started. For a second I forgot that anything bad happened that day. Instead of worrying over what happened, I was able to focus on how lucky I was for my friends and my family, I guess. Somehow, that dulled the pain. Another thing that dulled the pain was when Cam finally came back with my hot coffee mug. Just the smell of the drink soothed my aching head.
As the first episode started, Cam started sharing his fill of drama on the day. Apparently, three different girls hit on him today, although, I find that hard to believe. I started to drift off to sleep before he even started to talk about lunch, but I don't think he minded. He quieted down his voice but continued to talk. Maybe he was trying to get me to sleep the whole time.
I woke back up on episode 5 of the show which meant it was almost 11:30. Cam was sprawled out on the couch, and I on top of him. He must have fallen asleep after I had, seeing as the only sign of life in him was his chest moving up and down with his breaths. My head was hurting again, but I didn't want to move. Cam looked so peaceful when he slept. I didn't dare move and wake him. So instead I laid there and watched him.
I'm not sure how long I watched him there, but after a while he woke. "I know I'm beautiful, but staring is rude." He said with a raspy voice and a small smile on his face. "Also, I'm sweating buckets, so I would appreciate it if you got off of me." I slowly got off of Cam and curled up with the blanket on the other side of the couch.
The dark room began to glow when he turned on his phone and looked at his notifications.
"Oh. Shit." He simply said.
"Uh, what?" I groggily asked.
"So, I forgot to tell you but... I kinda snuck out of my house, and my mom is freaking out right about now."
"Just tell her that you're here." I nonchalantly ordered him.
"I tried, it didn't work. Apparently I'm 'severely grounded' and 'can't leave the house until I'm married' so, I should probably leave. I'll call you tomorrow before school, and at lunch, and after school." Cameron said as he slowly rose from the couch. "Wait, can I come over after school?"
"Sure. My parents are flying back out to Paris and Moscow tomorrow morning, so no one will be home."
Once I heard my front door slam shut, I slowly crawled up one of the staircases to get to my room. I closed my eyes as I navigated my way through the never ending hallway. I opened the door to what I thought was my room, and hurled myself on my cold bed.
Once I finally found my way under the warm covers, I fell asleep the second my head hit the soft pillows.
---
I was hoping to wake up like they do in the movies. I wanted to wake up to the sunlight shining through the curtains causing the room to look blissful.
But no.
I woke up to my phone vibrating loudly while singing the tune to a One Direction song. That meant Cam was calling. I didn't open my eyes other than to find my phone on the dark bedside table.
"The hell do you want?" My voice sounded strained and raspy as I quietly yelled at my best friend.
"Well... good morning to you too." Cam sounded cheery, but I could tell he was trying to talk as quietly as he could since it was still early and he knows I am not a morning person. "I just wanted to call to say good morning and I wanted to warn you that I'm coming over after school with frozen yogurt and the Suicide Squad movie. Kay?"
I waited a couple seconds to reply. "And you needed to call me at 5:30 in the morning because...?"
"Fine bye then. See you after school, friend."
I hung up and closed my eyes for a moment before turning around to gaze out my window at the streetlights outside. But when I turned around, I was met with a dark wall, no window. For a second I didn't realize what was happening, then I looked at the sheets I was laying under and looked around the room.
This wasn't my room. I must've accidently came in here last night instead. It was my brother's room.
