unfinished buisness

chapter 7

Hello there my beautiful readers, i know it's been a long time but I lost the drive to write for a while. Don't worry it's come back with a vengeance ;P I finally know how I want to finish this book so it wont be overly long maybe 6 or 7 more chapters :) thank you for sticking with me for this long, I know I'm a bit of a pain in the ass due to my lack of updates. Katie's birthday

''Happy birthday my lovely!!!!'' was the first thing Katie heard when she woke up.

''urgh Nicky why are you here at such an un-holy hour?'' Katie asked groggily, whilst turning her head and flopping face first back into her pillows.

''Get up lazy ass, or you're not getting your present.'' Nicky jumped onto Katie.

''Okay okay get off me you crazy person.'' 

''So what's the plan Stan?'' Nicky asked whilst peering out the window subtly.

''Sleep until my next birthday?'' 

''You're not still sour about Josh are you? you know yo can do so much better and he's a total dick to have done that to you!!''

''I'm not sour. It just hurts. I thought we clicked ya know?'' Katie said whilst sitting cross legged looking at her hands.

''I know hun but it's your birthday. We can talk about this tomorrow. Let's just enjoy today shall we?'' 

''If I must.''

''Then on that note you my girl must go have a shower and i shall start setting up for tonight.'' Nicky said with a cheeky wink.

''Tonight?''

''Yes. Your family have agreed to let you have the house to yourself so we can celebrate your birthday properly with a house party.''

''effort.'' Katie whined.

''Hey now I'll do all the work you just have to be here and wear this.'' Nicky threw a gift bag to Katie. ''you like?'' She asked as Katie pulled the sleek maroon coloured dress out of the bag. It had sleeves that ended at the crease of her elbow, and would reach mid thigh.

''I love.'' Katie replied whilst smiling.

That night the whole house was booming with the music from the speakers 

''Hey there sexy.'' A deep husky voice whispered in Katie's ear as a pair of hands found there way to her hips and pulled her up against him.

''Danny!!!'' Katie giggled as she struggled out of his embrace.

''How's the birthday girl?'' Danny asked with a wink as he gazed around the room at the mixture of people.

''I'm good, just looking for Kyle. You haven't seen him have you?''

''I think he's in the kitchen, I'll see you later. Blue eyes over there can't take her eyes off me.'' Danny said as he wondered off towards some girls.

''Sure Danny. Just don't get slapped again like last time.'' Katie yelled over the music to his retreating figure.

''One time!'' Danny screamed when he was no longer in sight due to the number of people that were swaying and grinding in the room.

As Katie slowly sauntered off towards the kitchen someone caught her eye and her stomach plummeted to the floor. This cannot be happening!!! Katie thought as she quickened her pace away from the living room and into her kitchen.

''Kit kat, it's present time!!!'' Kyle screamed in Katie's ear as he picked her up and spun her around before finally setting her on top of the kitchen counter amongst various drinks and plates of food Nicky had set up an hour or two before. ''Smile Kit otherwise people will think you don't want a party after all.'' Kyle said teasingly.

Before Katie knew it she was holding a package. ''Well open it.'' Kyle said. Katie tore open the paper and was met by two pairs of happy smiling eyes.

''Oh Kyle thank you! this is my favourite pic of us. I love it!'' Katie lent over and wrapped her arms around his neck in another embrace and gave him a small peck on the lips.

''I'm glad you like it.'' The pair made small talk for a while longer in the kitchen, then Nicky came along.

''Hi Kyle just going to borrow this one for a minute.'' Kyle nodded his head in a be my guest style as Katie was slowly dragged away by an anxious looking Nicky.

''Josh is here.'' She hissed.

''I know.'' Katie sighed all of a sudden becoming glum.

''You going to talk to him?'' Nicky questioned.

''I suppose, where is he?'' 

''Tongue wrestling with some blonde.'' Nicky pointed to a pair that were pressed against a wall at the back of the room. Katie strolled over, and the pair continued as though she wasn't standing two feet away.

''cough freaking cough!! do you two ever come up for air?!?'' The blonde turned around grabbing hold of his belt loops with her fingers.

''Joshy whose this?'' She whined. Katie groaned.

''Really a whiner? Out of everyone you choose a whiner?'' 

''Joshy baby let's go.'' Josh just stood there with his hand on the small of her back looking at Katie.

''Gimme a minute Jen.'' Josh said dropping his hand from her back.

''But-'' Jen started but was shortly cut off by Katie.

''Just shut up and go.'' As she sauntered off Katie let out a breath. ''And you put up with that voice??'' she asked exasperated.

''What's up? happy birthday by the way.'' Josh quickly brushed off her question.

''Thanks, so... you're here.'' Katie said trying to smile.

''Yeah I didn't know if I should come or not, but i figured things would stay awkward if we didn't try and be just friends again.''

''Okay.. yeah I guess you're right.'' Katie said looking towards the ground as though she wanted it to swallow her whole.

''Okay sweet.'' Josh pulled her in for a hug and wrapped his arms round her waist. Yay... friends...Katie thought in her head.
