authors note: Anyone else think Katie and Josh's kiss was ubber cute? I did!!! but where shall it go from there.....

*bzzzzz* *bzzzzzz* *bzzzzzzz*

''Hello?'' Katie answered her phone.

''Er heellow I am Olaff and I would like to talk to a seexay beast called Katiee?'' Kyle said in the worlds worst Sweedish accent in the history of accents.

''Heellow Kyle.'' Katie imitated Kyles bad accent, laughing so hard a tear slipped down her cheek.

''Ah you got me, how did you know it was me?''

''Mad skills, anyway whats up?''

''Nothing really just wanted to ask a few questions about you and Josh.'' He wolf whistled into the phone.

''gaaarrrhhhh!!!!! was that completely neccessary?? i had the phone right next to my ear!!!!''

''Hahahaha yes it was!! anyway!! when did you two start hanging out?''

''A few days ago, we met a while ago and have spoken a few times but we didn't really see eachother until recently.'' Katie replied truthfully knowing Kyle would eventually get the whole truth out of her.

''So you were all alone at the pool tables.... were you guys on a date????''

''NO!!.... well actually I don't know.... I don't think so..... and dude you sound like a girl.''

''Little one you shall pay for that comment next time i see you!!!''

''Yeah yeah yeah.''

The two bickered amongst themselves until they had to hang up to go to bed.

''I gotta go, it's getting late and Josh is coming to get me in the morning.''

''oh haha hes quick wink wink don't do anything i wouldn't do, love you kat.''

''Love you to Kyle forever and always.''

''Forever and always.''

After the line went dead Katie scrambled under her covers and rested her head on her arm. Her and Kype had been best friends for about a year. Already she couldn't imagine not having him as her older brother figure, even though its Katie that takes care of Kyle the majority of the time, if someone hurt her he would always be there to save the day. To wipe away her tears and hug her until she felt whole again. As she drifted off to sleep she found herself thinking about all the things they had gone through together.

''Kyle??'' In front of Katie there was a figure walking towards her. ''Kyle whats wrong?'' She asked in berwilderment. His face was a hollow shadow.

''Katie, Katie help me.'' He chocked out and collapsed in her arms.

''Kyle!!!! Kyle!!!!!''

''Kyle!!!!'' Katie woke up with a jolt and fell off her bed. ''oommf.'' She hit the ground. She quickly scrambled over to her bedside table and grabbed her phone, tears streaming down her face. *ring ring* *ring ring* ''Come on Kyle pick up!!!'' She screamed into her phone.

*ring* ''Hello?? do you know what time it is!!!'' Kyles irritated, tired voice came through the speaker.

''Kyle, Kyle are you okay? it's me.'' Katie said worriedly.

''Katie I'm fine, you know it's 3 am right? what's wrong?'' Kyle said sounding concerned.

''oh sorry, nothing it's just i had a nightmare again and it made me worry.''

''What was it about?''

''Umm I can't remember, all i know is I was worried about you when i woke up.'' Katie lied.

''Well I'm fine go back to sleep Kat. We will talk tomorrow night love you.''

''Love you to.'' she replied as the line went dead. ''Forever and always.''

Katie spent the rest of the night tossing and turning, when she finally deemed it a normal time to be awake she got out of bed and had a shower.

As she allowed the hot water to relax her muscles and wash away the fear from the night she started to wonder why she always lied to Kyle about her nightmare. It was always the same one. She would see Kyle and he would ask for her help and then collapse in her arms. But she could never save him.

She thought about all they had been through together since they met. Kyle has been her best friend for years, they were always together practically inseparable. But Kyle had his moments. Katie had to do deal with many things that would be hard to cope with. Things that would not make much sense unless dealt with first hand. Kyle had depression. He is fine most of the time but others no. One time stands out the most for Katie.

*flash back*

*ring ring* ''Hello??'' Katie answered her phone.

''Katie I'm sorry, I can't do this anymore.'' Kyle breathed heavily into the phone.

''Kyle?? Kyle whats wrong???''

''Katie I've had it, I can't deal with it anymore.'' Kyle releases a slight sob barely audible enough for Katie to hear.

''Kyle don't it'll be okay, we can get you help! just please, please don't do anything stupid. For me please. I love you so much I can't lose you.''

''Katie I can't It's too much.''

''Whats too much? talk to me.''

''Everything. They are fighting again. And i can't handle it any longer!! I want a blade.''

''NO! Kyle you have been so good you can't go back to that again.''

''Katie I love you forever and always. Good bye.'' *the line goes dead.*

*End of flashback*

Katie continued thinking about that day. Remembering rushing to his house, spending the night with him to make sure he was okay. How did things get that bad? She asked herself. Things arn't always like that. She thought remembering all those days they spent at their secret park.

*Flashback*

''Come on, Just try.'' Kyle says toKatiewhose laying on the ground with a camera. Kyle had been practising butterfly twists and backflips for the last 30 minutes with Katie taking photos and video recoding him.

''Kyle I can't, I don't have enough balance.'' Katie replied already feeling sore at the mere memory of the last time she tried a side flip. She landed on her back and Kyle carried her home.

''I'll help, I promise I won't let you fall to the ground.''

''Garrhhh okay okay, help me up then.'' Kyle wandered over and grabbed her hand pulling her to him and then picked her up in a hug.

''Just remember, speed and balance.''

Katie took a run up and started spinning, and then started falling. A scream escaped her lips as she nearly skimmed the ground with her face before a soft body was below her and arms wrapped around her.

''Hahaha see told you I'd catch you.'' Kyle grinned up at Katie.

*End of flashback*

As Katie got out of the shower she noticed a smile had spread across her face at the memory of her first few times spending the day at their secret park. Even though her and Kyle go through some tough times they are their for eachother and she couldn't ask for a better best friend.
