Jade’s POV:

Selena Gomez the once very public love of Justin. Jade’s stomach clenched with a feeling she wasn’t used to, anger, fear, jealousy? It was most likely a combination of all three. She’d heard what the breakup had done to Justin and she was less than pleased to see Selena here this evening. Justin’s eyes were locked on Selena as she moved through the red rope and into the VIP section. In equally as stunning dresses, Ashley Benson and Vanessa Hudgens stood behind her, Jade had seen them years ago in a movie together and at an even younger age idolized them, they were beautiful, more beautiful than Jade felt in that moment. As she looked at Selena, Jade understood why Justin fell in love with her; she was amazingly gorgeous with her long brunette hair, big doe eyes, and a smile that could knock anyone dead.

By the time Selena sat down on the couch adjacent from Justin and Jade it had felt like minutes had gone by when it was only mere moments. Jade also noticed that Justin hadn’t taken his eyes off of Selena since the moment she stepped into the booth. Feeling inferior and a little more than upset Jade stood to go onto the dance floor. As she walked past Selena she encountered a look of challenge, one that claimed Selena’s territory as Justin. Jade was never one for competition and she wouldn’t make herself into a girl like that now. She found Victoria on the dance floor almost immediately and pulled her aside.

“Selena’s here, what the hell am I supposed to do?” Jade asked loudly over the music.

Victoria’s nostrils flared in ultimate disgust. “Are you fucking kidding me?! I knew something like this would happen if Justin emerged from the shadows. You stake your claim Jade; you show Selena that she doesn’t have a place in his heart anymore. Now that you’re there, there is absolutely no room for her.”

“But I don’t have a claim, or a place in his heart. Victoria he’s not mine. Justin and I haven’t established anything.” “He’s more yours right now than he is hers, unless you don’t want him to be. But let me tell you something. If Justin goes back to her he’s over. His career, his reputation, everything he has built up and where he is right now in his life is going to crumble because she will leave him again and next time he won’t be able to handle it. You can save him, you are everything he needs.” Victoria said.

Jade nodded. Victoria was right. Though nothing between her and Justin was definite he was more her’s than Selena’s. “I just need some fresh air to think for a minute.” Jade said.

“Don’t make it a long minute; she’s going to sink her teeth in soon.” Victoria said and returned to the dance floor with Alfredo.

It was the perfect cool night in Los Angeles, and downtown the atmosphere was amazing. Jade hadn’t been here for years and she was especially happy to be soaking it all in in this moment. She’d only been outside for a few moments when a man began walking up to her. He looked like what Roxie would call a sleaze ball. But as he got closer Jade’s heart began to hammer in her chest, it was Pablo, one of Slim’s guys. It was after four in the morning and there was no one insight to save Jade and the club door was too far away for her to make an escape.

“You thought you could just escape from Slim didn’t you chica?” Pablo said in his thick Mexican accent. “Your Slim’s best girl, his ángel , don’t you know he’s not going to give you up that easily. His name is engraved on your ass amiga, you ain’t goin’nowhere.”

“No please.” Jade pleaded. “Pablo please tell him you couldn’t find me. I’ll do anything, I can get you money, more money than Slim is giving you ever. Please tell him you couldn’t find me and let me live my life.”

“No can do chica, Slim is in that nice little van of yours that brought you to this party. You get in that van now, or I go into that club and I shoot that little pop star that took you away from us, comprendo?”

Jade swallowed, maybe she could make it to the door. Maybe she could get away, or at least warn someone before anyone got hurt. As she turned to look at the door she heard the sound of Pablo’s gun click.

“Don’t even think about it chica. You can’t run, you can’t hide because as you see now Slim will find you.”

“Fine.” Jade said in a hushed tone.

“Eh?” Pablo said, turning his ear as if he didn’t hear her.

“FINE!” Jade screamed. “I’ll go back. I’ll leave LA but Slim has to promise that no one will get hurt.”

“I don’t make promises for Slim. Just get in the van bitch.”

The van door then slid open and as Jade stepped up to enter the van she heard the club doors open and a blood curdling scream of “HELP” exited her lips before everything went black.

Justin’s POV:

Justin could n’t believe his eyes, was Selena really standing in front of him in this moment? He hadn’t seen her since the day she walked out of his house, bags in hand. She looked.., different, not a good nor bad different but different. He couldn’t stop staring at her, wondering why she would show up at this club tonight and come into his VIP section. He then realized he’d never edited the list, she was always allowed in. As Selena sat next to him Justin noticed Jade get up to leave the booth, he’d wanted to go after but he knew he had to take care of Selena first; he didn’t want Jade to have to deal with her.

“Selena what are you doing here?” Justin asked in a less than nice tone.

Selena faked a pout. “Is it too awful to say that maybe I missed you?” she sighed. “Justin we need to talk.”

“I’ll say so, but not here, not now. Not while I’m out with my friends actually enjoying myself. You need to leave.”

“I’m on the list Justin.” Selena snapped. “I’m not going anywhere.”

“No one wants you here.” Justin snapped back. She was beginning to piss him off, this was a side of Selena that he wasn’t used to seeing and it was a side that he didn’t like. “Just leave, you’re making a fool of yourself.”

Selena pouted once more. “You’re not being very nice I’m not doing anybody any harm by being here.”

“You are, you’re not wanted here Selena.”

“Who doesn’t want me here Justin? No one has voiced such opinions.”

“I don’t want you here.” Justin said coldly.

A brief emotion of hurt passed over Selena’s face before she quickly composed herself. She opened her mouth to say something before closing it and turning away from Justin.

Justin couldn’t be around Selena any longer and all he wanted to do was find Jade and take his friends back to his house to continue their night. He’d seen Jade go onto the dance floor with Victoria when Selena arrived so he knew if he found Victoria he would find Jade. But as Justin went to the dance floor and found Victoria dancing with Alfredo he realized that Jade was nowhere in sight.

“Where’s Jade?” he shouted in Victoria’s ear over the music.

“She went outside to get some air. Go find her now! Selena hasn’t been here for a half hour and she’s already fucking things up.” Victoria scolded Justin.

Justin nodded and began retreating outside without another word. He had to fix things with Jade now, not later. He’d kissed her tonight and they hadn’t even talked about that, hadn’t established their feelings. Justin knew that Jade’s life was still complicated, even though he’d taken her out of the horrid lifestyle and he didn’t want to complicate it anymore if she didn’t feel the same way about him as he felt for her. He didn’t even know what he really felt for her, all he knew was that he was drawn to her and he wanted her in his life.

As Justin opened the club doors he noticed that it was eerily quiet outside for 4AM in downtown Los Angeles. But that eerie quiet was soon broken by the blood curdling scream of none other than Jade.
