Justin’s POV:
“Scooter you’re sure no one has seen her, there’s no pap pictures or anything?!” Justin yelled into the phone, his panic was growing into paranoia.
“Justin, I swear I’d tell you if I knew anything. I’m sure she’s fine, I’ll call you if there’s any leads.” Scooter huffed.
“Its just I don’t know what happened to her and-” before Justin could finish his sentence he was cut off by the sound of the front door opening. Jade emerged around the corner, biting her lip slightly as if she were apologetic. “Oh Scooter she just walked in, call off the search. I’ll see you in a bit man.”
“Thank God.” Scooter said then hung up the phone.
Justin stared at her in awe, he didn’t know whether to start yelling or pull her so close to her chest and never want to let go. He went for the latter and bounded across the room, pulling her in. “You had me so fucking worried Jade, I didn’t know what happened to you and-”
“Justin.” Jade shushed him, all the wind coming from her lungs in his tight embrace. For once, his embrace felt, nice, good. For a single moment all she wanted to do was be in his arms.
“Where were you, where did you go?” Justin asked as he dropped his arms, he couldn’t believe he’d reacted this way, so affectionate towards this girl.
“Um.” Jade’s face went bright red and panic etched her features. She then reached into her jean jacket pocket and pulled out a small package.
“Jade, no.” Justin said, horror in his voice. “But you were doing so well, we’d worked so hard. You’ve been heroin free for almost two weeks now how could you-”
“Justin I’m standing here holding it because I haven’t taken it, its not in my system.”
“Wait what?” he asked.
“I can’t take it because when I walked in, and saw the look on your face. How worried you were about me being gone, and then when you saw me and all the worry and pain, and sadness faded away because I was back, I knew you cared. Its because you care that I can’t take this, can’t ruin everything you’ve been working so hard to build up for the past two weeks. So I’m sorry that I left, and that I was gone for so long. But this is not going to be in my system.” Jade then scurried to the bathroom to flush it down the toilet, running back to find Justin standing in the same spot.
He pulled her into his arms once more. “I’m just so happy you’re safe.”
“So the team’s really nice, everyone’s close knit and I know you’re going to fit in great.” Justin continued to talk to Jade on the way to dinner. “Ryan Good, my stylist, he’s crazy, take nothing he says seriously. Then Scooter, well you met him but he’ll open up more tonight. Kenny, oh yeah you met Kenny too. Uh, Allison she’s super sweet and. Oh my god Alfredo! Alfredo’s one of my best friends, that dude, he’s hilarious and down to earth, and I hope he’s not still mad at me.”
“Still mad at you?” Jade giggled as she broke through Justin’s outward babble.
“Everyone on the team might be mad at me, these past few months I’ve been the biggest asshole in the entire world and I’ve been kinda distant too. Then today in that interview, I just lost my cool.”
“Wait, interview, what happened?” Jade piped up, curious about the situation.
Justin sighed. “This interview girl was a total bitch. She kept asking questions that were on a list of no go topics, like about my ex-girlfriend, and you and shit, and nothing really about the album. After the interview was over I kind of flipped out on her. She was disrespectful, and I got really mad.” Justin’s breath began to quicken as soon as he thought about the interview, he was still so pissed about it, and a little worried about his outburst making it into the media, though it wouldn’t be the first time.
