Carmen

     "Mom is ...... what?" I asked in mere confusion. Mostly because I didn't want to take in what he just said. 

"She's dead, Carmen, she's gone." He said, bursting into tears right in the middle of the hallway. 

"What the hell happened? How the.... I don't" 

"I don't know Cammie... I don't know what we're gonna do. We don't know who our father is.... we went 17 and 19 years without knowing who our father is.... I don't know what we're gonna do." 

    We were both in tears for about 20 minutes in the hallway, before we actually left. The car ride was silent. We arrived at the hospital where they kept our mother.

   I looked at her in the hospital bed. She looked as if she was asleep. My brother sat in the corner of the room balling his eyes out. All our mother did was work and work to try to keep us with nice things, food on the table, and a nice stable home to live in, and now she's gone. We are clueless of what to do with our lives. 

    Moments later a tall black bald male entered the room, with a black suit and red tie. 

"Um excuse me who are you" Caleb said. 

"Are you two Caleb and Carmen?"  He asked.

"Yeah why?" I said.

"Im Jonathan... Im your father.."

  Chres 

    Carmen was ignoring my texts. She must be really busy. I was at lunch, and my friend Jessica came and sat by me.

"Hi Jes" I said, munching on a bag of chips. 

"Whats up, we haven't been talking lately" She said.

"Well Im sorry, I was kind of working on a relationship with some, and I really didn't think about anyone else no offence"

"A relationship? With who?" She asked, looking kind of upset.

"Carmen"

"BRADLY? My best friend?"

"You two or friends?" 

"You've been eyeing her and never seen me hanging with her?" 

"Well when Im eyeing her Im usually just looking at her and no one else" I can see that she felt offended when she got up and left.. Did she.... like me?

   Carmen

   We had almost an hour of staring at this man who claims to be our father, before he began to talk. 

"Look, I know this is hard to take in.... but Im here to explain to you about your mother." He said. 

"Explain what? How she died?" Caleb asked.

"Yes.... you two might have to sit down for this." He said. Me and Caleb sat on the couch next to our deceased mother as he took a deep breath.

"You're mother...... died of AIDS" he said.

"WHAT, AIDS? FROM WHO?"  Caleb yelled. 

"From me.... I gave it to her before she got pregnant with Carmen...." 

"Wait so that means..." I began to start crying.

"Yes Carmen........ you may have it too."
