Underpaw

Chapter Three

"Follow me" the pure white she cat flicked her tail and turned to walk into the tunnel. Marigold followed carefully. The tunnel was shallow but as the two cats started to walk on, Marigold could see that the tunnel obviously got larger as they walked deeper onto the dark. "Um w-where are we going" Marigold asked shyly "why to the center of the colony of corse" Snow said. Marigold nodded and they continued to walk. A few moments later they had reached the center of the colony. Marigold gasped, she had never seen such a beautiful place. The tunnel opened up to a huge open space and in the middle there was a whole in the roof where sunlight streamed in. "When it is a full moon the light shines through that whole" Snow said dreamily. There where cats everywhere, eating fresh-kill or talking. Marigold new she loved it there already, but what she loved most was what she thought to be the queen Snow's den. "That's my den" Snow said as she started to walk towards it. The den wasn't any sort of normal den. It was like a cliff that overlooked all of the cats. A tunnel was dug in on the wall at the back of the cliff. That was where Snow had her den. Draping the tunnel where vines with lovely purple flowers dotting them. It was all in all the most amazing sight Marigold had ever seen. Also on the walls of the open space where tunnels that led to different rooms. One of the tunnels right near Snows den had more vines draping over it. "What's in there" Marigold asked snow when they reached her den. "That is where I meet with the pure ones to discuss how to make the colony better" Snow finished then added "and you are not to go in there under any circumstances" she seemed pleased with that and continued to walk up the little steps that had been carved into the sides of the cliff like thing. Marigold nodded and followed Snow. "Come" Snow said "I want you to meet my pure ones" moments after she said this five cats emerged from inside the tunnel on the back wall. "These are the pure ones" she said " this is Lightning" a jet black cat nodded his head "this is Mosaica" a brown, yellow, black, gray and white she cat nodded and said "hello." "This is bramble" snow continued. A large brown tom looked Marigold dead in the eyes but did nothing. "This is Shadow" a tuxedo tom nodded and said "hello Marigold" Marigold was about to ask why the cat new her name but Snow spoke first.
"And finally this is Titanium" Snow finished. A silver tabby she cat with white high lights smiled and nodded "hello" she said. Snow nodded at the pure ones and they left. Snow turned to look at the colony that lay before her. Marigold came to sit beside her. "Marigold" Snow said suddenly "yes?" Marigold said and turned to face Snow. "How would you feel about being princess of the Snowset colony?" Marigold's eyes widened "m-me?" She asked I a small voice "yes" Snow said "once I pass on I will need someone worthy of taking my place" Snow said "and I think that someone is you" she smiled "what do you say?" Marigold though for a long time than finally said "I would be honored" Snow's face lit up "wonderful" she said. She turned to look at the colony again. "Well princess Marigold" Snow said "welcome" Marigold smiled. "Welcome to Underpaw."
