"John!"
It sounded closer this time.
John stood up, peering into the distance.
It was him.
Adrian was running towards him.
John quickly shoved the blade into his pocket and wiped the years of his face.
"Hey!", Adrian greeted.
"Hey", John said.
"What's wrong? Are you okay? It looks like you were crying", Adrian asked, concerned.
"Yeah. Everything's fine. I just...its nothing"
"Are you sure? You can tell me anything, I'm here for you. But you don't have to if you don't want to"
"No, I'm fine. What are you doing here anyway?", asked John.
"I've just been walking sound, exploring. I'm really into photography so I like to take pictures of different things- ominous things. When I found out that there was a junkyard nearby I got really excited and rushed over here, but I didn't expect you to be here"
"Yeah, I'm come here often. This wasteland is my only retreat from the hell that I'm in"
John sighed.
"I hate being at home. I'm tired of him", He croaked.
His eyes started to become cloudy.
"I'm tired of being sad. I'm tired of being alone. I'm tired of being angry. I'm tired of remembering. I'm tired of being different. I'm tired of all the abuse that I have to take. I'm tired of wishing I could start over. I'm tired of dreaming of a life that I'll never have. But worst of all, I'm tired of being tired."
John buried his face into his hands, dropped down to his knees and started to bawl.
Adrian knelt down and hugged John, tightly.
No one had hugged him like that in a long time.
"Shhhh", Adrian whispered softly. "It's gonna be alright. I'm here, I'm here".
He started rubbing his back in little circles until the crying had subsided.
He continued to hug him, letting John rest on Adrian's shoulder."Thank you, it's been a while since anyone had comforted me like that", said John softly.
"It's fine, remember I'm always here for you, you're my best friend", said Adrian, smiling.
It was quiet for a moment, then Adrian started to sing softly.
"When the lights go out, will you take me with you"
It was Summertime, by
My Chemical Romance."and carry all this broken bone", John chimed in.
"Through six years down in crowded rooms
And highways I call home?"They both chuckled, holding either tightly.
