The doctor stares at the scanner in awe as the giant ant crawls away, then opens the doors, struts out spinning his sonic machine and whistling as if nothing happened,

"We need to search for life!" He shouts grinning like an idiot.

"I think we found life! Uh massive ant!" I frown, my expression obviously makes the doctor laugh.

"Not insect life! Humanoid life Sam!" He smirks moving his eyebrows in different directions to be 'funny'

"Fine." I sigh slowly, he's obviously not gonna give up on this one.

~ one hour later ~

We are still walking through the green and purple thickets when the doctor and I come across a large town hall towering over a tiny village in the middle of the planet, almost human.

"AH! This looks like life to me, although it is quite deserted..." The doctor starts with excitement in his voice but trails off into an obvious endless void of humming because he won't stop.

"SHUT UP!" I finally snap after nearly 40minutes of humming tuneless songs.

"What? I thought you liked my humming!"

I give him a dirty look and stop as we get to the steps of the town hall, I knock three loud knocks on the large oak door, after a couple of minutes waiting a small old man with a hunch back comes to the door

"Hello?" He croaks reminding me of the matron in the morning "who are you?!"

"Urm, I'm the doctor and... And this is Sam." He shows the man the physic paper, it obviously shows some sort of medical ID,

"Ah! Thank goodness your here we're in the middle of a village meeting, come in, come in." The man fully opens the door to reveal a large corridor the walls decorated with the most extensive collection of Christmas decorations I swear I've ever seen, I wouldn't find this strange but it's not Christmas...

"What are these?" I whisper to the doctor,

"Christmas decorations." He frowns at me

"I know that but, it's not Christmas." I mumble quickly as the man turns round.

"This way please." The man instructs as we follow him into a large council room filled with people but they don't look like people more like animals, mammals no doubt but not one human.
The doctor obviously notices my expression as he whispers "Bestiam, new species of earth mammals, but on this planet."
I roll my eyes.

"OK now everyone's here I think we're ready." Says the old man solemnly "we need to address the large insect prints we found in one of the fields, it flattened almost half the crops."

"Uh! Sorry! That'll be the giant ants." Interrupts the doctor looking slightly sheepish.

"Giant ants?!" A cat like woman stands up her eyes wide, and the room erupts into hushed conversation.

A loud noise comes from the hall, before banging and crashing and then the doors burst open to reveal a slug as tall as 2 men and as wide as 4 sitting in the door way or the council room.
