"Since when to clockwork robots speak?" I say trying not to look suspicious.

"They don't, well not until now anyway." The doctor replies, he is sitting bolt upright.

"What do we do?"

"Just act normal, we've come to see the coronation right? Well so far the only robot I've spotted is his very posh lordship," he says making a face "so just act like you haven't noticed."

I can't help but get distracted by the constant ticking but no one else seems to notice, it gets louder and louder till I can't stand it any longer.

"We're gonna have to go." I whisper through gritted teeth.

"It'll show us up too much anyone else would give anything to see this coronation, you'll stick out like a sore thumb especially, you're a woman."

"What's wrong with women?" I say a little too loudly and half the audience stares at me.

"The dress, it's too puffy."

"I really have to go Doctor." The ticking is getting unbearable.

"Don't look behind you. When I say go run."
I sneak a look behind me and see a woman with a mask and a large blue dress on, slowly but surely, reaching out for my shoulder...

"GO!" The doctor shouts and we run for the door grabbing Elizabeth with us, "no time to explain Lizzy. ANYONE WHOS NOT A ROBOT FOLLOW US!"

Although we are out of the hall the ticking is still getting louder and louder. We have taken refuge in the palace.

"Doctor can you hear that?"

"What?"

"That ticking?"

"No?"

"Doesn't matter then." I'm getting worried.

"Can someone please explain to me what is going on?" (Now) queen Elizabeth asks.

"Sorry. Forgot about that. There are these things, clockwork robots, basically they want your body parts for their experiments." The doctor states matter of factly.

"Well as the new monarch of England I demand that we do something about it."

The doctor continues to have a conversation with the queen until suddenly everything becomes muffled, as if I am underwater.
All I can hear is the slow and loud tick tock tick tock.
I black out.

I wake up, everything is white. Am I in heaven?
"Hello?"
My voice echos and comes back to me almost like a reply.

"Hello." A soft woman's voice quiet like an echo but It's not mine, I see the person it belongs too.
The woman has cascading hair as black as a Ravens feathers however, her eyes are bright sky blue the same as mine. It's my mother, I met her last time I regenerated.

"Am I dead?" I blurt out unable to contain the question any longer, even though I know I can regenerate.

"Do you want to be dead?"

"No."

"Then you're not dead, just sleeping."

"What happened?"

"The robots tried to take over your brain, bring the queen to them, the doctor is using his own power to stop them."

I plunge back to reality, the doctor is on the floor golden particles floating out of his chest.

"DOCTOR?!" I shout shaking him, he's freezing cold.

Elizabeth puts a hand on my shoulder, "Samantha, I'm sorry. He's gone."
