"Elizabethan?" I put my head to one side "What year sorry?"
"You'll have to wait and see!" The doctor laughs his eyes smiling the way they always do
I roll my eyes "can't you just tell me?" I sit in a big chair I see in the corner and throw my hand a top my forehead with true drama "A TRUE THESPIAN MUST KNOW WHERE HE IS TO GO BEFORE HE GOES THERE!"
"Shuduppp!" The doctor laughs "I'll tell you later."
The TARDIS grins to a halt, he presses a couple of buttons, "You can look at the date now, I'm just gonna get something."
"Okay." I skip over to the middle of the TARDIS and check the date "January 15th 1559." I mumble under my breath.
"Queen Elizabeth 1st's coronation!" The doctor makes me just as he appears behind me. "There's something for you I left it in your room, it was your mothers."
"Oh ok." I find myself shaking, something from the mother I never knew, I don't feel worthy.
I turn the handle on my bedroom door and step into the environment I am so familiar to, hanging on my wardrobe door is a long Tudor style dress, it is red with white lace climbing up it as if it is ivy climbing up a wall. Below the dress, are a pair of flat, white slip on plimsole type shoes, I'm not sure what you'd call them.
I put it all on and clip my hair up. I rummage for some jewellery, and put on the necklace I got for Christmas and a couple of rings. When I put on my makeup I make it look as Elizabethan as possible apart from a tiny bit of black eye liner which I couldn't resist."Blonde." I figured bright pink hair wouldn't go well in 1559.
I run out of the room and present my self to my god father.
"Beautiful! You look just like your mum!" He says as I prance around pretending to be posh.
"Why thank you!" I say in my most queen like voice "much appreciated!"
The doctor laughs and bows mockingly, "Your carriage awaits!" He says taking my arm leading me out of the TARDIS, although where we end up is not glamourise at all, we've landed in the middle of Tudor London miles away from where we're meant to be.
"Oh." The doctor raises one eyebrow, "we'll have to take a horse and cart, one minute," he walks up to a cart driver "excuse me?"
"What?" Says the man brushing down his carriage not bothering to turn around."
"We're some of Elizabeth's advisors for after she's coronated and we're awfully far away from the cathedral," I can't help but laugh as the doctor struggles to put on a Royal voice.
The man turns around fast a look of horror on his face "Sir! I'm so very sorry I didn't realise who you were, I'll happily transport you to the coronation for just a small fee."
The doctor brings out what looks like a large amount of money and says "that should be enough?"
"Thank you sir I'm indebted to you!" The man looks over the moon about the money.
"No worry, keep it for your family!" The doctor turns to me and smiles, I reply with a thumbs up.
The journey takes longer than expected and gets increasingly boring the further we are to the coronation, I swear the only thing keeping me awake is the thought of seeing the woman I read about in so many text books.
When we reach the cathedral I greeted by Elizabeth herself,
"Who are you?" She asks in her extremely well spoken tone
"I'm Samantha, I am one of your pre-employed advisors."
"Oh. Well if your one of mine then I must sort out your hair! It is positively gastly!"
A swarm of maids run over and redo my hair to the Elizabethan standards."Thank you your highness." I do a small curtsy
"I'm not your highness yet miss. Although I don't think I'll ever be, since you are one of my advisors, I'll expect you to address me as Elizabeth." She smiles and I almost explode with excitement.
I stand on my toes and spot the doctor talking to a guard, explaining who we are and I run over to join him."Ladies shouldn't run." The guard glares down at my through his helmet,
"Guards shouldn't speak out of turn." I scold the smirk at the doctor who raised his eyebrows at me grinning.
"My apologies miss. I didn't realise your status, can I ask what it might be?"
"Her highness' future advisor." I furrow my eyebrows, "what makes you think I should answer to you?"
"Nothing miss, my apologies miss."
Me and the doctor walk far enough away from the guard so he can't hear us and I burst out laughing "Amazing!"
"Your quite the lady!" The doctor laughs and I hit his arm,
"I am not a lady!" I smile.
The bugles sound to announce the coronation and the hall bustles with busy lords and lady's taking their seats, we find a good spot at the front the doctor says 'everyone else has seen this infinite times over even if they don't know it and this is our first time.' Which I don't really agree is a viable excuse but I don't complain.
"His lordship the pope!" The caller (or whatever his name is) announces as the pope walks in looking very grand followed by his procession who then take their seats.
"It is by thy pleasure to welcome you all to this monument-t-t-t-al moment in our monarchy's history." The pope calls as he reaches the altar, I can't help but notice his stammers and I notice the doctor mouth to me 'don't show yourself up, clockwork robots.'
