Liam remember the first day so clearly, the day he first met the brunette haired, blue eyed, Irish boy.
Liam was sitting in the sandpit, driving his small truck through the sand as he made the noises with his lips, his woody and buzz light year toys laying in front of him on the ground.
Liam was a lonely young boy, who did everything on his own, he ate his lunch by himself, while watching the other children in his grade try and play basketball and eat they're sandwich at the same time.
Liam was never once, asked if he'd like to join, like to play, nor did he ever ask.
The day Niall approached Liam, was never really seen coming from anybody, the small toddler was playing in the sandpit like usual, his brown hair sticking up in many directions after the class bully tried to drag him halfway across the car park, early that morning. Dry tear stains still remained on his cheeks, and a thick bandage was hiding the massive cut on his knee.
Niall wandered away from his large group of friends, trotting over. Niall was a year older than Liam, and they were never in the same class. He glanced down at Liam's shoes, and toys, before he began to laugh, making Liam look up, his hands resting on his hips.
Later on that day Niall indroduced himself, plopping down beside Liam, who was so proud to be talking to him, the boy who was friends with everyone.
"I'm Niall" the blonde boy spoke, smiling slightly as he picked up Liam's buzz light year toy.
"I didn't mean to laugh before...I don't have many toys" he spoke again. Liam sat still, his hands resting in his lap and the soles of his shoes pointing out towards the school parking lot.
"You wanna play with me?" Niall asked, reaching to touch Liam's head, almost causing Liam to burst into tears. Nobody could touch his head.
It took two years for Niall to break Liam out of his shell, finally getting the smaller boy to talk. Nobody knew Niall was Liam's friend, and when Liam tried to explain it to his parents they just didn't believe him.
Liam met up with Niall at the front gate of the school everyday, his head down and eyes staring forwards the gang of bullies playing football. He soon felt a pair of arms on his shoulders, a smile pulling up on his lips as he took a glance at the brunette.
"Hey Lili..." He grinned wandering over to the small sandpit, the six year old happy to help the five year old into the sand.
Niall took a sharpie from a girl in the playground happily writing NIALL on both soles of Liam's flashing woody shoes, making the bambi brown eyes boy grin widely.
That afternoon Liam walked home slowly and as light as a feather to try and save the name on his shoes, pulling them off once he got home and rushing off to show his parents, the now smugged name on the soles.
"See!" He squealed. And that was how Liam and Niall became bestfriends, they spent all their life stuck together by the hip.
When Liam and Niall hit Highschool, nothing was the same as it once was, they hardly had time to see each other, and only had one class together, and neither were to impressed. As soon as the day ended, Niall would be checking over Liam's skin for any bruising or sores, before scribbling his name down on Liam's skin or book, it was their way of showing the love for each other, and prove to people that Niall and Liam were actually bestfriends.
It wasn't until the fifth week of Highschool when Niall wandered out of his class as the bell signalled, to find Liam sitting under the small oak tree, his head in his knees and his arms on his head. Once Niall reached the younger boy he realized what had happened, he felt his blood boil and his fist clutch as he pulled the sobbing boy close, all that trust he had earned was possible gone.
Liam had a large bruise across his forehead, and his wrist was broken. They had stolen his wallet and phone, and Niall was just about ready to kill somebody,
Liam didn't attend school for two weeks, staying in his room to watch endless replays of films. Never once did he speak a word, or let anybody touch his head unless it was Niall, who visited everyday.
"Hey Li.." Niall spoke softly, closing the door behind him as he slipped into the dark room, plopping himself onto the bed.
"How are you feeling?" He asked, pulling his shoes off and slipping under the covers, the younger boy immediately snuggling into him.
"I never want to go back to school again, I want to, just stay here by myself forever" Liam spoke slowly, nuzzling into Niall' neck.
"You need an education bub...you can't spend your life watching movies and eating popcorn" Niall protested, using Liam's thighs to bring the boy onto his lap.
"Remember the first day I met you, you were all of three sitting in a sandpit, you almost flipped out when I tried to touch your head, and it took me two years to earn your full utter trust, you know you can trust me with anything bub...and we could talk to the principle about me and you getting some special tutors instead of skipping classes to see each other. Hmmm how do you like that idea?" He asked, his hands trailing down Liam's hips and past his thighs.
And that was when they both had their first. Their first kiss, first pleasure, First joy.
It wasn't until Liam was eighteen and he learnt how to fight for himself. He was now a foot taller then Niall, and had spent countless days at the gym, he was not longer the wimp people thought he was.
Niall had pale white skin, blonde hair and a thick Irish accent, but knew how to fight when he needed to. Both boys were openly gay and were proud of it.
It's was 3am when Liam was woken by the loud bang on his bedroom window, the thunder echoing through out the room, as he saw the large wet figure in the window, a sigh on his lips as he slowly unlocked it.
"Niall I'm grounded, you can't be here...' He spoke softly, watching the wet boy crawl into his room, slipping off his clothes and letting himself stand starke naked in the middle of the room.
Liam groaned tossing the clothes at Niall, as he slipped back under the covers, and not four minutes later he felt the cold figure press against his back, leaving a wet patch on the sheets.
"Sam asked me out" Niall spoke, excitement in his voice as Liam felt his heart clench, his back still facing Niall.
"That's great, don't let him break your heart' Liam muttered as he tried not to cry.
When Liam spoke those words he meant them, they stuck. The day the sobbing blonde came to his doorstep, he spent the rest of that hour punching the Sam's teeth in.
Liam loved Niall, always had, but the day Niall came to his house crying, was the first time he had ever seen the blonde cry, and he knew he was hurt, his heart had been broken like Liam never wished for.
The blonde spent a week in Liam's room, vomiting after every meal and losing weight by the pounds, and it made Liam so worried about his bestfriend, he already knew he had fallen in love once, he wasn't to sure if Niall could take it again.
Liam was sitting on the end of the bed, running a wet face wash over Niall's face, the sickly looking blonde leaning into Liam for support.
"Niall" he spoke softly, taking the boys limp hand.
"Remember when you helped me. Remember the many times you wrote your name on my soles, books and sometimes my skin just to prove I had a friend. Well, what if I could give you something simliar, but instead of a friendship, maybe I could give you a heart" Liam spoke, trying not to startled the sick boy but also speak in a form of code.
After a few minutes of the blonde sitting still, Liam felt the boys hand creeping up his arm, bring him down to his level and gently pushing their lips together.
Their love was meant to be, and to this day now, the two lover boys are still together.
Nobody saw the love or friendship between the two coming.
Don't underestimate yourselfs.
