Chilled shifted and snuggled further into his covers, ducking his head away from the slow brush of cold air hitting his face. Half awake, he barely even comprehended the light snicker that followed before drifting off again at a rapid pace.
Faint pressure and warmth on his nose pulled him back to the living, though he was reluctant to open his eyes or even have thoughts beyond how much he would love to be left alone and allowed to be warm deep in his sheets.
"Chilled~"
The young man stated pulled his covers over his head, nearly whacking his companion upside the skull at he did so. The bed shifted as someone else clambered on and curled up, more on him than the bed. He peeked open half lidded eye out and saw Ze grinning from above, an expression which intensified when he saw the response. He bent down and kissed Chilled's forehead.
"Wake up sleepy head, it snowed!"
Chilled didn't find this very remarkable, what with him being a New Yorker and all, they had snow in buckets and would gladly give some away to any who wished for more. However, as much as Ze seemed to love to claim Canadian status he was mostly Californian and snow wasn't a very common sight. Chilled had half a mind to go back to sleep despite it all, but he stared up at Ze's near childlike excitement and felt himself give in.
"... Fine," Chilled sighed as though he were doing his boyfriend a large favor, and Ze actually giggled with happiness before crawling back over Chilled and off of the bed.
"I'm going to make coffee, you have ten minutes before I come back up here and throw your ass in the snow!" He ducked a tossed pillow with ease and ran out of the room.
It took at least eight of those ten minutes for Chilled to tug himself from his bed, leaving him to blearily stumble around in a half daze while brushing his teeth and pushing his hair into a somewhat less 'bedhead' state. Still combing his hair with his fingers and still wearing his pajamas, he pushed open his bedroom door and nearly collided with Ze, who jumped back with a surprised but pleased look.
"I thought you fell back asleep," the younger admitted, scratching his neck with a light laugh. Chilled laughed back, pretending to be offended.
"Hey, you're the one who threatened me."
"Mmhmm," Ze confirmed with a nod of his head, tugging on Chilled's hand. "Come. Downstairs. Now."
"Alright, alright! Pushy!" Chilled accused, leaving Ze to roll his eyes and drop his hand before walking down the stairs.
The stairs led to an open kitchen, no walls separating it from the dining room and front door on one side, and the living room and back door on the other. Through the sliding glass door, Chilled saw Ze had been far from kidding- at least five inches of slow had dropped over night, and light flurries continued to rain from above. He shivered just looking at it, but then realized the house itself was rather cold. He followed his boyfriend into the kitchen as he poured his steaming coffee.
"Hey Steven, did you turn up the thermostat?" he questioned, hugging his own arms to his chest. Ze laughed nervously, cueing a suspicious glance from the elder.
"I, uh... turned it down last night, to about 65."
Without hesitating, Chilled walked briskly out of the kitchen and to the object in question, receiving instant confirmation Ze was telling the truth. He clicked it up about three notches and gave him a confused look. "Are you insane?"
"It's winter!" Ze insisted defensively, holding his coffee to his chest for warmth. "It's supposed to be chilly!"
"Not inside the house!" Chilled whined, walking back into the kitchen. Ze smirked and poked his chest.
"Weakkkk. Natural selection is coming for you." He pulled a stool out to sit down at the counter, and got his coffee stolen in the process. "Hey!"
"You're short, natural selection is coming for you," Chilled responded with a wicked smirk, sipping the coffee. It was nearly boiling and burnt about half the skin on his tongue, but he wasn't going to show that. Ze pouted aggressively, an expression which actually made Chilled laugh out loud and return the mug. Though, he tugged Ze to his feet. "Come sit on the couch with me."
Ze obliged, leaving his stool in the kitchen and dropping onto a cushion that faced the glass back door. Chilled spread out, his legs curling over the opposite arm and his head falling into Ze's lap. Though the younger had a sudden urge to set his hot mug on Chilled's forehead, he made the decision to not do so. It was in a companionable silence that Chilled alternated between watching the snow outside and watching Ze, while Ze finished his morning coffee and pretended not to notice the glances. Finally, he set the mostly finished mug to the side and combed his fingers through Chilled's still messy hair.
"You need a shower," Ze determined with a wrinkling of his nose, feeling oil on his fingers. Chilled chuckled, sitting up next to him.
"I guess you'll need to come help me with that later," he said suggestively, simultaneously eliciting a blush and an eye roll from his companion.
"Anthony," Ze complained, standing up to return his mug to the kitchen. The man in question wrapped his arms around Ze's waist and pulled him back down, so he was leaning against Chilled's chest.
"Let's have a lazy morning," begged Chilled, turning his head into the side of Ze's neck at he did so with hope he could be more convincing by doing things that were 'cute' to him. Surprisingly, there wasn't a second of resistance.
"Fine." The younger of the two shifted so his head was on Chilled's chest, his back on one arm and thigh while his own legs crossed the other. Chilled didn't question it for a second, hugging Ze to him and setting his chin on his head while watching the snow fall outside.
Ze squirmed a bit so he also had a better view, and took a few seconds to ask, "Hey, Anthony?"
"Mmhmm?"
"Do you think we'll have a white Christmas this year?"
"I think you're going to have a white Christmas if you know what I mean."
"Chilled!" Ze admonished, sitting up just enough to hit him in the shoulder and see the devious look on his face. Chilled tugged him back down to his previous spot, and he didn't resist much. "Really, though. I'd love to have one."
"Then I'll make sure we have one," Chilled promised. Ze rolled his eyes.
"That's not a promise you can keep, and you know it."
"Do you doubt my abilities, Ze?" Chilled asked in a fake hurt tone.
Ze snorted in answer, sitting up again and curling his arms around Chilled's neck to look him straight on.
"I want a snowball fight."
"You'll lose, but we'll have one."
"I wanna make a snowman."
"I don't exactly have buttons or a carrot, but we'll improvise."
"I wanna make an igloo."
"Of course you would, you Canadian."
Ze didn't even make the effort to look offended, and kissed Chilled. "I love you."
Chilled smiled serenely and kissed Ze in return. "I love you too."
