Chapter Song: Outer Space/Carry On by 5 Seconds Of Summer
"Mai-mar!" Toulouse yells up the stairs. I roll over and groan into my pillow. "I'm gonna be late!" he's a little closer this time, still yelling. "No," I grunt into my pillow. "Maisie-Marie," he huffs from my door. "I'm tired," I whine. "Well, you need to drive so get up and let's go," he replies walking further into the room. He makes his way over to my bed and flings my covers off. I curl up into a tight ball immediately being frozen due to my lack of pants.
"Put on pants and let's go," he demands. His voice is getting a little harsh so I do as he says and sit up. "Okay, okay, let me put on pants and a jacket and we'll go," I say standing and pushing him out to close the door. I grab the sweats I stole from Luke and a random sweater. I slip into my ugg slippers and head downstairs. "Let's go," I tell Toulouse grabbing the keys.
After I drop Toulouse off at the airport I dial Luke's number. He picks up on the second ring with a, "This better be important."
"Hi Luke," I say lightly. "Hello?" he asks, must've not herd me. "Hi," I say a little louder so he can hear me over the Bluetooth through the car. "Oh hi, I didn't know it was you. What's wrong?" he says sounding a little more alert. "Why do you automatically assume something's wrong?" I ask. "It's 4 o'clock in the morning, why would you call me this early if something wasn't wrong?"
"I guess I hadn't really realized the time," I explain. "I see," he answers. "So, um," I start not really knowing where I'm going until Luke blurts out, "Come here!" A little taken off guard by what Luke suggested I realize that at least 30 seconds have gone bye and I've not answered him. "Oh, okay. I can go there," I tell him. "Good. How far are you?" he asks. "Twenty minutes maybe."
"Okay, I'll see you then," he replies and hangs up. The drive is short and without traffic considering it's so early. It's still dark when I pull into Luke's apartment complex's parking lot. I get out of the car and run across a patch of grass and to his door. Ringing the doorbell thingy I wait for him to open the door. After a minute or so he swings the door open in only a blue pair of flannel pajama pants.
"Hey," he says smiling at me. "Uh, hi," I reply looking towards my feet. "Come in," he says stepping aside. "But please remind me again why you're up before the sun is?" he asks as we walk up the stairs to where the apartment begins. "Toulouse needed to be driven to the airport," I explain. "He sure does go away a lot now," Luke points out. "I guess you're right," I sigh.
"Upset you much?" he asks. "I guess not," I tell him. "You aren't a very convincing actress," he points out. "I'm a wonderful actress, thank you very much," I sass back. "Okay, okay. Do you wanna go to bed?" he suggests. "What?" I snap at him. "I'm tired," he says nonchalantly. "But- you like, you...sure why not. I'm tired too."
He leads the way to his room and he settles under the covers. I crawl into his bed and lay on my back next to him and stare at the ceiling. After a while I shift on to my side my back facing Luke and drift off.
When I open my eyes I feel Luke's arm slung around my body his front pressed to my back. It's pitch black in his room still but I assume it's later in the morning. Slipping out of his grasp I hobble to the bathroom. Squeezing in sideways I close the door after I'm fully into the bathroom. Luke being the tall fellow he is has his small mirror up rather high. Making me have to stand on my tiptoes to be able to see myself properly.
At some point in the night I had woken up I think, though it was a state of half awake and half asleep. During this time I had slung on one of his shirts after having stripped myself of my uncomfortable bra, shirt, and been over heated in sweats. I also put my hair up in a very high messy bun. Pressing my fingers against my cheeks I make sure my skin isn't bruising after having fell down the stairs yesterday. I then splash some cold water on my face to cool my over heated body off.
