(Lucy's POV)

We're woken up by the sound of barking. I shoot up and so do David and Chloe. Please tell me it isn't what I think it is. We all gather our blankets and pack up. "You never said that your dad had dogs!" I whisper-yell at David.

"I didn't think he would find out this soon!" He yells back. I roll my eyes because I'm gradually becoming really infuriated with him. We set out on a run and I'm ahead of everyone. Chloe is coming up behind me with David bringing up the rear. I don't really blame him. His dad probably never lets him play any sports or anything of the like.

We continue to run and Chloe speaks, "We need to find a stream!" She's always been a really smart student. We continue to run until we hear the sound of rushing water. We all stop to detect where it was coming from. "There!" I exclaim, pointing in the direction.

We run towards it and wade in. We keep our supplies above us and walk downstream. We continue on for about a mile and a half before deciding to exit off onto some leaves so he can't see our footprints in the mud. We all sit down until the sound of dogs barking interrupts our heavy breathing. We all groan.

I'm first to get up and reach out to help up Chloe and David. We start to jog in the direction David points to. We slow down into a walk when the dogs barking has faded. I start to see less and less trees. They're fading out. I eventually see a road and grow really excited.

I start to usher Chloe and David to run because of the road. They quickly comply and seem to be excited, too. We reach the road and begin to cheer quietly. We look around and see a few stores around. We decide to go to small convenient store on the corner.

I run because I'm so excited and I can hear David and Chloe close behind. Maybe I'll get to go home. We run into the corner store, out of breath. "Oh my, dear!" an old woman exclaims holding her chest and looking bewildered behind the counter.

I run up to her and skid to a stop at the counter. "Ma'am, I'm sorry to bother you, but we need help," I start to explain our situation to her in a really fast tone. She smiles sadly at us and tells us to wait a moment.

She dials a number which I assume is the police. "Hello? Officer, I need to report something. A few kids just walked into my store saying a kidnapper was after them and he might have a gun and dogs. I don't think they're lying because they look frightened and terrible.....Okay. Thank you." She hits the end button and faces us. "Okay, so a few policemen will be here soon."

We all breathe a sigh of relief until we hear barking again. We all look at her pleadingly. "Get behind the counter," she says frantically. We quickly comply and rush behind the counter. The door bursts open and I can tell that he's alone.

"Have you seen 3 kids come in here?" He asks angrily. "Or even run by?"

"No, sir, I haven't," the old woman responds. She's really convincing. "Could I help you with anything? May I direct you to an aisle?" she asks in a sweet voice. She's stalling. We hear sirens in the distance and we all look at each other and smile.

"You called the police?" Luke bellows loudly, causing us all to flinch.

"Yes, I did," she simply states. We hear the click of a gun and we flinch once again, looking at each other with frightened faces. Just a few seconds later, a shot rings out. Chloe screams and David and I watch with horrified faces as the woman crumples to the floor. Her body slowly begins to soak with her own blood. Her head lulls to the side and it seems like she's looking dead at me. When I look into her eyes, they're void, like the life literally drained from her body.

I don't really have time to panic because I'm being dragged up from where I'm sitting. My chest aches as David and Chloe stay crowded in the corner. I cry as I'm dragged away from them, back outside. Luke starts sprinting, away from the sirens. Away from the people that can help me.

"Why are you doing this to me?" I shout, crying harder. Luke has no care in the world as he continues to pull me along, me tripping over myself. He ends up going so fast that I end up falling to the ground. I sob as I lie there, my chest heaving and my breaths labored.

"Get the hell up!" he shouts angrily at me. I cry as Luke jerks me up, squeezing my arm. I'll have bruises...

"Please, please stop." Luke ignores me as we continue. He suddenly stops and I realize it's because he's getting his dogs. I stare wide-eyed at the German Shepards.

Luke continues to drag me with him and I dread ending up at that house. He's gonna kill me. Or worse, he's gonna put me through every bit of pain he can think of. My panic starts to set in when I start to recognize some of my surroundings.

We make it to the house and I'm pulled inside. He starts heading towards the basement and I know what's coming. However, instead of what I thought, I'm thrown down the stairs and the door closes. I breathe heavily as I tumble until I hit the ground. Pain shoots through my entire body.

I black out.

The next time I wake up, it's because the door is opening. I frown when someone stumbles down the stairs. It's not until my vision clears that I realize it's David.

--

"Was your mother ever good before?" I ask quietly. I'm pressed up against the wall, resting.

"Rosalinda? She's not my mother. My real mother walked out on us a long time ago. She tried to get me out with her, but Luke just wouldn't allow it. He was dangerous and she had given up all hope when the cops didn't turn to help her. Now I have no idea where she is. She was beautiful though. She had long brown hair with blond tips. She was beautiful last I saw her. I'm sure she still is, too," he finishes in a shaky voice.

With that, I face the other way and fall asleep thinking about what David's mom would be like.

I wake up to the sound of creaking on the stairs. They were headed straight for us. Panic starts to set in. Why is the person trying to be so quiet? David hears it, too, and quickly wakes up. I look at him terrified.

The door swings open and a tall looming figure stands in the doorway. Luke. He goes for David first. He pulls David aside and holds a knife to his throat. I'm suddenly being restrained by Rosalinda. I thrash around, but she's stronger than me. I scream, but no one comes to save me.

Luke pulls the blade back and lets David fall in a heap of blood on the floor. I'm let go and quickly run to his side. I hold his neck to try and contain the blood. It's too late. Within seconds, he's dead. I'm picked up by Luke and dragged down the steps. I'm shoved outside and into a black van. Rosalinda's driving while Luke is in the back with me. I'm so screwed. I knew this would happen. Those stupid ass police officers never should have let us go home. Wasn't there something else they were supposed to do?

I notice that the floor has several blankets on it. Oh no, I'm sure to be raped again. I was right. Luke starts to rip off my clothes while Rosalinda laughs like a hyena in the front. He pulls his pants down, leaving him in just his boxers. What kind of wife gets off on stuff like this?

By now we're both naked and he's ready. He doesn't hesitate to thrust into me. I scream out in pain, as he wasn't going easy. I cry and cry, waiting for the pain to just stop. But it's not until almost twenty minutes later before he's finally done. His fluids were all over my chest and stomach. He puts his clothes on, leaving me naked.

He kicks me in my head causing me to hit the corner of something. I was sure to be dead in just a few seconds.

I scream and scream until my lungs hurt. Luke starts shaking me and I wonder why. But then I finally wake up.

"Lucy! Lucy it was just a dream," David says hurriedly. He holds me, keeping me close and trying to calm me down. All I can manage to do is cry in his arms.
