Chapter 14: Apologies and presents.

"Logan?" I poke his cheek.

"Logan?" I sing, poking the same cheek.

"What?" He groans rolling over, swatting my hand away.

"It's Megan's birthday." I whisper excitedly trying to pull the duvet away from him.

"And?" He groans, tugging the duvet out of my grasp.

"We didn't end up getting her a present."

He jumps, sitting up in his bed.

I'm a horrible friend, I couldn't find anything thing that I thought she'd like.

Logan jumps out of bed, picking up clothes off the ground and throwing them on.

Don't check him out.

"Last time I didn't get her a present she almost took my eyes out." He breaths scared,

I snort.

"How many shops will be open at....." He looks at his phone, " Six am?"

"Enough."

We pull up at the mall, we quickly get out of the car and make our way towards an open store.

It's a weird store.

"Come and feel this rug!" I whisper excitedly to Logan who was looking at some weird shaped sticks. He walks over and feels the oval brown and white rug.

"You do know that this is animal fur, right?" He laughs, I quickly drop the rug, my eyes wide.

"What if we get her a scented candle?" I ask, I skip over to the candles and smell the first one.

"Mmmm Vanilla." I moan, moving to the next candle.

Logan and I smell them all.

"I think the mint one was nice." I tell him, picking up the green candle.

"I like this one." He picks up the Vanilla one.

I sigh, "we both can't get her a candle."

Logan frowns knowing that I'm right.

"Well, you can put yours down." He says, my eyes narrow.

"I thought of candles first."

And we get into an argument.

I lift up the price tag and choke.

"Yeah, you can get her a candle." I squeak, Logan grins triumphantly taking the candle towards the counter.

The old lady behind the counter smiles at him.

"That'll be one-eighty." She smiles, holding her hand out waiting for the money.

Logan chokes, "O-one-eighty. But it's only a candle!"

"It is not just any candle." The lady tells him, slightly offended that he thinks 'it's just a candle.' "It's supposed to scare away unwanted spirits."

Logan groans throwing the money into the counter. He's desperate. Logan told me that she wakes up at seven for her birthday so she has enough time to celebrate it. After paying Logan grabs the candle and we head out the door.

I laugh as we begin to walk, "how does it feel being broke?" I ask, Logan keeps his head down.

"Great."
