Chapter 21
Mara
Then
It wasn’t until I heard his truck start up and drive off in the distance that I realized he would be leaving for college soon.
“Stupid college,” I muttered, pulling at my hair desperately, trying to comb it.
“To hell with it.” I jumped in the shower, feeling suddenly dirty. I scrubbed and scratched every part of my body red and raw, wanting to get rid of Aiden. It wouldn’t work. I still felt him everywhere.
I turned off the water, stepping into clouds of steam. I was still seething. I cleared up the mirror to wash my face, couldn’t see a thing- until I noticed a reddish spot below my jaw- in my neck.
“FUCKING DAMN IT FUCK FUCK,” I screamed loudly, cursing and groaning in annoyance.
The stupid bastard player had left a disgusting, territorial, terribly sexy love bite smack in my neck. It was a bloody red, a ridiculous contrast to the white of my skin. I face palmed myself. How hadn’t I noticed? What was I going to do?
I opted on a side braid, leaving my hair wet. It covered it perfectly. I groaned again. My anger had slightly subsided as I walked out of my bathroom and dialed Luna’s number.
“HOLLA!”
“Luna.”
Her cheery tone turned serious within seconds.
“Mara. Who do I have to beat up?”
I considered telling her that she couldn’t beat anything for her life, but decided to get straight to the point.
“Aiden.”
“I thought you guys were fine? I mean, your mom called me after your date. Said you got another asthma bitch attack, stayed over at Aiden’s.” I could almost see her smirk, picture her eyebrows wagging, suggestive.
“I had a fight with him back at his place, hitched a ride with a hot stranger, ran a few miles, came back home. Realized that Alice and my dear mother had left me stranded with the devil himself.”
I heard her wolf whistle.
“You mad, Mara?”
“Mad doesn’t even cover it.”
“So what happened?”
“I guess I slipped the L word. Then we started, you know…” I felt uncomfortable now. Ashamed.
“You started making out. Got it. Then what?”
I struggled to continue.
“We were on my bed, pretty much half naked and-”
She cut me off with a loud scream.
“OH MY GOD DID YOU HAVE SEX? DID YOU DO IT? HOW WAS IT? WAS HE ROUGH? SOFT? GENTLE?”
I groaned, blushing furiously.
“No, Luna. I cut it off.”
“What?”
“I told him to stop for a second, we got worked up, and I kicked him out.”
“What are we going to do?” she sighed, exasperated.
