Chapter 2: In the Kitchen...REALLY?

"SHUT THE FUCK UP WOMAN!" I hear being screamed down stairs, I groan in annoyance. It's been two years now since we found out that dad was gone. I'm ten now, Hailey is now eleven; at this point she still talks to me. She stopped going to cheer and dance with me, which honestly broke my heart, but she didn't feel the love in it anymore like I did. She said it reminded her of dad, because he's the one who signed both of us up. While the memory hurts her, I still do it because it makes me feel closer to him. Knowing he wanted me to do it, it makes me smile and I don't plan on letting go of the feeling of being with my dad again.

Cody is twelve, he's still nice to me, but that's were his niceness stops. He can't stand being near Hailey, apparently she and Cody got into little fights every now and then and Cody was just sick of it. His solution; cut off contact completely. My mom is another story. After our hug fest, she went into a depression of some sort. She refused to talk to anyone, eat anything and basically refused to leave her bedroom all together.

Finally after about a month of this Cody convinced our grandma to come up and help out. She was hesitant about leaving grandpa to take care of their huge barn by himself, even though they have a ton of workers on their 200 acre farm. Once Gram got here, she took control. She cooked homemade meals, cleaned our house, and the best part about her visit? She pulled mom half way out of her funk. I mean I sympathize with my mom I really do, I mean it can't be easy losing your high school sweetheart. But you can't drop all of your responsibilities, and ignore your kids.

My mom and dad were your typical high school couple. She was the head cheerleader; he was the star quarterback on the football team. They met by being paired up as lab partners in biology freshman year. My mom being the girly person she was freaked out when they had to dissect a frog, my dad being the macho guy trying to impress the girl; did all of the dissecting and my mom did the report. They were the perfect team from the beginning, and when their final day as lab partners came up my dad asked her out on a date. They went to a movie theater and watched Arachnophobia. I am going to assume my dad picked that movie so he could pull my mom close if and when she got scared, so cliché.

After that date my parents were irrespirable. My dad walked her to all of her classes the rest of freshman year, getting a whole bunch of detentions because he was always tardy to class. When they went on their seventh date my dad asked my mom to be his girlfriend. She of course said yes. My mom was the queen bee at school; she was never a bitch like everyone thinks a queen bee is. My mom was friend with everyone from all different cliques; she didn't care what you looked like, who your older siblings were, what you wore, or who you slept with. She thought everyone was equal, and so did my dad, that's probably way they got along so well I bet.

Soon enough they are almost done with their senior year. It's pretty much a given that my parents were going to get married after they both turned eighteen even if my grandparents were a little hesitant about marriage right away, they had no problem with them being together. It was the weekend of their senior prom and my mom had a light pink dress on (A/N picture on the side), while my dad had a plain tux on. They were crowned prom king and queen and danced the night away.

Much to my grandparent's dismay, they got a hotel room down in Portland, Maine right on the coastline. It was about a twenty minute drive from Westbrook, Maine. They rented the hotel room, facing the ocean. The next part of this romantic tale is where I tuned out the details. It was all about how my parents basically got it on. Yeah gross right, yep so I pretty much was in La La land when they went over that part of the story. The next couple of days are when the story takes a turn. My mom misses her period, her best friend Cindy ran to the drug store and bought a pregnancy test. And sure enough that shit turned out positive, and that's when Cody made an appearance in the story.
