Chapter 6: It's Just My Drunk Cousin Megan
When Ava and I reached my house, my mom, Cody and Hailey were all sporting swimming suites. When Cody saw me he smiled at the hat on my head, I nodded my head. "Hurry up and get changed we are going to Cindy's house." Hailey said walking by me and Ava. "Can Ava come?" I asked not really wanting to go over there without her. Cindy was mom's best friend throughout her childhood, and they are still friends today. I like Cindy don't get me wrong; it's her son that bothers me. Aaron and Blake, yep those are her kids, how unfortunate. They were pretty loaded, and they had this huge swimming pool and hot tub in their 2 acre backyard. "Of course she can, Ava is basically one of my children." My mom shouted from the kitchen. Ava ran to her house to get her swimming stuff, while I ran upstairs to change. I grabbed my favorite navy blue bikini; it had a white anchor on my left boob. I slipped my shorts back on over the bottoms, while I found a white crop top. I grabbed my old cheer jaw string bag and slipped my phone, iPod and gum in it. I grabbed my white flip flops, well they used to be white...they are kind of black now. I found my sun glasses and I grabbed my hat, I placed it on my head with a smile. I heard the car horn and I ran down the stairs, I jumped in the back with Ava and Hailey. Cody got shot gun because he is the oldest.
About ten minutes later we pulled up to the gates of the mansion, Cody and the gate keeper were laughing at some inside joke. Cody comes here all the time to hang out with Aaron, while I only come here when I am forced to. Finally Cody said goodbye and the gates opened, we drove up to the rounding driveway and parked. I grabbed my bag and slipped out of the car, Ava and Hailey right behind me.
The door swings open, a very excited five four woman comes bounding down the stairs. "BROOKY!" Cindy screams as she runs to my mom, engulfing her in a hug. My mom let out a little laugh, and shook her head. "Hey Cin, how are you?" She shrugged her shoulders, glancing behind my mom looking at the four kids staring at her. She walked around my mom and went to Cody first, with open arms. "Look it's my estranged son!" she laughed as she hugged him. She looked at Hailey next. "Oh goodness! You look exactly like your mom did when she was your age!" she pulled Hailey in for a hug. She looked at Ava next, she smiled at her. "I was afraid you wouldn't come, I thought maybe last time we scared you off." She said as she hugged her. Ava shook her head and smiled. Then Cindy got to me, her mouth fell open as she looked at me. Her blue eyes open wide as she stared at me. I felt uneasy under her gaze, luckily her husband Gavin and the boys came out to snap her out of it. But she didn't move, we were having a staring contest, soon Gavin put his hands on Cindy's shoulders.
"Cindy why are you staring at the poor girl?" he said jokingly, soon Aaron and Blake were staring at me too, but with confusion as to why their mom was looking at me. "You look just like him..." she whispered. My mom came up next to her with a sad smile, and for the first time in two years looked into my eyes. "I know, she's his replica." Gavin seemed to realize what they were talking about as a sad smile slipped on his face. "She has his eyes, that striking green with the specks of brown." Gavin said out loud, the adults nodded in agreement. Cindy reached out and gently caressed my cheek. "She has his facial structure; everything about her facial features is defiantly his." Cindy murmured as she held my face in her hands. "Her personality matches his too." Mom chipped in looking me in the eyes still. "God, if he was here he would be so proud that one of them looks like him." Cindy said with a joking smile. Mom nodded and a silly smile slipped on her face. "Yeah, Vin would have loved to hear her sarcastic comments." It was then I realized who we were taking about, my dad. They said I was just like him, looks and personality. A smile slipped on to my face as they said he would be proud of me. Cindy clapped his hands together. "Alright, enough creeping the poor girl out! Let's go swim!" Every laughed and followed him inside. I started to walk, but all of the kids stopped me from walking. I turned around confusion evident of my face. Hailey smiled at me and hugged me tightly, at first I was shocked but I hugged her back. Cody hugged me next, almost crushing me. When he pulled back I looked up in their eyes, both had tears forming in their eyes. "Why are you guys about to cry?" I asked really concerned. Cody chuckled while Hailey actually answered me. "Because, we just realized how much you look and how much you act like dad, and it made us smile." I laughed and rolled my eyes. Ava walked next to me and bumped her hip with mine. "Can I go swimming yet? You know how annoying I can be if I want something." My eyes widen as I realize she's right, she can be super annoying. I grabbed her wrist and dragged her through the house to the pool.
