Chapter 9: Making Things Work

I slammed my bedroom door; so many different emotions were swirling through my head right now. I can’t believe Cody would say that to me, I mean sure maybe lying to him wasn’t my best idea but he wouldn’t let me see Hayden. Why doesn’t he understand, I’m not a little fragile girl anymore, sure I may still be pretty innocent but that doesn’t mean I can’t make my own decisions. I changed into my neon pink spandex and grabbed my black cheer t-shirt. I walked over to the mirror and glanced at my reflection. I honestly looked horrible, my eyes blood shot from crying, my make up smeared all down my face. I walked out of my room and over to my bathroom, everyone was still in the living room talking in hushed voices. I ignored them all, I walked into the bathroom and washed my face and brushed my teeth. I ran a brush through my hair and walked out of the bathroom.

“Addison…” Cody called from the stairs, but I kept walking ignoring his attempts to talk to me. I was fed up, I do nothing wrong ever but you slip up one time and BAM! Suddenly my dad ‘supposedly’ hates me and my brother screams at me. This day couldn’t have been worse.

I walked into my room and shut the door quietly, I was about to walk away when I turned around and locked the door. I shut off the light and climbed into my bed, wishing the final hour of my night was just a dream…or a nightmare.

I woke up early the next morning, even though I couldn’t sleep all night. I got up and grabbed my phone and iPod and shoved them in my duffle bag. Then I grabbed my water bottle, a hoodie, and my pom poms. I slipped on my white adidas shoes and walked down stairs. I glanced around my living room seeing Cody, Aaron, and Blake camping out on the floor, while Hailey and Ava shared the couch. I rolled my eyes and walked away; I grabbed an orange and peeled it. I was so lost in thought that I jumped when I heard a car horn outside. ‘Taylor’s here’ I thought sarcastically to myself. I grabbed my bag and walked out to her pink Volkswagen Beetle, even the interior was pink. Taylor was a junior in high school; she was one of the coaches for my squad. We get along very well considering are huge age gap. “Hey A!” I laughed as I buckled in and chucked my bag in the back. “Hey Tay!” I said just as peppy as she is. She giggled and drove off to the gym.

The whole way there we made mindless conversation, which I was happy for it was getting my mind off of everything. Taylor was telling me all about her troubles with her boyfriend; he’s the captain of the football team, and pretty much any other sport in school. I sighed once we got to the gym; it was time to work out all of my frustration. I grabbed my bag and pushed open the door.

‘Let’s do this…’

Two and a half hours later, I was packing up my bag, getting ready to go. “Hey A, are you sure you don’t want to come with for some shopping and ice cream?” Jeannette asked me, she seemed worried about me because I always go shopping with them. I shrugged my shoulders and nodded. “Sorry Net, I have plans with Ava today.” She nodded and offered me a small smile; she ran a hand through her wild mane of girly red hair. You know the girl from Brave? Yeah her hair is an exact replica. I silently laughed to myself as I thought about it; she even has three younger brothers and guess what! Their triplets!
