About an hour after Calum had finished talking to Ella everything was back to normal. Calum was poking Michael and asking about Audrey, Ashton was trying to do homework, and Luke was not letting that happen, laying in his lap and tapping his chin whilst Ashton typed away on his keyboard.

"Whatcha typing?"

"An essay Luke. You know, the essay due on Monday? For English?"

"Shut up Ashton you're in enriched english."

"And you're smart enough to, you just won't join because it's 'too hard'."

"It looks hard...." Ashton sighs.

"I know Luke." Ashton was kind of a genius. He was in every advanced class he could take as a sophomore in high school. Some of the best universities in the country were already contacting him. He was a bookworm, always got straight A's and teachers loved him. Luke on the other hand was good at math. His mom is a math teacher and had always helped him with everything he needed. Ashton always believed he had the potential to be in his Enriched english class because he was in amazing writer. But Luke was kind of shit at reading. His large vocabulary tells people otherwise, but it could take him two weeks to finish a one hundred page book. He needed to make sure he knew what every single word meant. He couldn't write factual papers, he was too creative and would always say that all the words 'made his brain hurt'.

"What's the essay about?"

"A book."

"What book?"

"The Scarlet Letter."

"Sounds like a boring girl book."

"It's a beautiful classic Lucas."

"Is it about love?"

"I mean kind of. There's adultery and stuff in it.. but the ending is amazing."

"... Sounds like a girl book.." Ashton pushed him off his lap.

"You're a girl book." Luke furrowed his eyebrows.

"Rude."

"You're also a hopeless little romantic bean."

"Okay so that's true."

"All the girls are going to be coming for you."

"Yeah sure they are."

"A cute little Ashton."

"I'm not cute...." He blushed looking at his keyboard. A lot of people at school think that Ashton is annoying, a teacher's pet, or a goody two shoes. A couple jocks would make him do their homework for them, and toss him around like a ragdoll when he doesn't do it. They love to make fun of him too. He's gone through about seven pairs of glasses because they keep breaking them. One of his main bullies was Carter. I'd asked him to stop before but he never would. And I never left him. It was one of the reasons I thought Ashton wouldn't forgive me. He was way too nice to be tormented the way he was. He would never want to hurt anyone. Even those who had hurt him. He was a sensitive, sweet boy, and I could imagine girls falling head over heels for him. His golden brown hair fell in curls around his face, sometimes held up by a bandana. He had bright hazel green eyes that squinted together when he smiled. He often wore sweaters and t shirts, all that suit him except for one awful purple shirt.

"I know someone who likes Ashton!" Luke shouted out, rolling back into his lap. I laughed.

"Is it Michael?" We had a joke in our group about the over lying bromance of the guys. They all had ship names together. Michael being the most lovey of the group had the strongest ships. Mashton, Muke, and Malum. There's also Cake, Cashton and Lashton. The guys will joke about Cuke all the time (me and Luke) but I always nudge them off.

"Yes! How did you know!?" Luke shouted.

"It's because I'm a great boyfriend. Right babe?" Michael said pecking Ashton on the cheek. Ashton rubbed his germs off his cheek.

"No not right, you, my good sir, are an uncultured swine."

"Aww babe you are so sweet, I love you."

"I hate you."

"Yes I'll marry you!"

"Michael no."

"You're pregnant!? Oh my god I'm so excited!"

"Michael eat a dick."

"Gladly bitch." I got in between them quickly to break it up.

"There will be no eating of dicks."

"Okay now I see why people think I'm gay, I say things about giving blow jobs." Calum laughed.

"Actually it's the ever changing rainbow hair."

"What is gay about orange?"

"Nothing to them, a lot of things are. But they're dumb and you're smart. Also quite carrot-like."

"Let's get back to the topic at hand..."

"Someone likes Ash!" Luke shouted out.

"Yes dumbass we got that, but who is it?"

"Well she goes to our school, and she's got blonde hair, and she's popular. Well a lot more popular than us at least."

"Well that is everyone who is a girl with blonde hair."

"Her name starts with an L."

"....Laura?"

"Noooooo. Lela. Evans." Ashton looked at Luke surprised.

"Lela!? Luke she's one of the most popular girls at our school. You must be mistaken-"

"Nope. I heard her say it herself."

"She was probably just joking."

"Is it joking when you find her in the unisex bathroom, looking in the mirror and saying to herself, 'This is real. You like him. I like him. I like Ashton Irwin.'"

"It's probably just a prank."

"She caught me looking in and chased me down the hallway to push me into a janitor's closet and tell me not to tell anybody."

"So you told us anyway?"

"Well I couldn't not tell you, I mean you're one of my best friends, and you think no one will ever love you, so I had to prove to you that you were very, very wrong because she likes you."

"But she doesn't want anyone to know..."

"That just means she doesn't know how to tell you." I knew Lela. She was friends with Carter and was around a lot. He would always check her out when she'd walk in making me feel more like I didn't matter to him but I ignored it.

"But I can't talk to her I'll get laughed at..." I spoke over his fear quietly.

"I have her phone number.." They all looked at me shocked.

"You do?" He asked hesitantly.

"Yeah she was.. she was friends with Carter.."

"Can I have her number?" I nodded handing him my phone. He did some typing on both phones before smiling brightly.

"What happened?"

"She texted back.."
