D.C. was pleasant enough, he wasn't loud, obnoxious, or constantly called himself a hero. England had a hard time believing he was even American... and that was the problem. Glancing over at currently laughing capital, England narrowed his eyes. This just wasn't right, the Brit didn't like change unless he was the caused it... but not like this. While the teen was definitely helpful during the meetings, and very pleasant to talk to during break the fact he was even there still bothered England.

"Still, that's hard to believe. Germany in a frilly pink apron? I just can't picture it to be honest."

D.C. chuckled as Italy went on and on about the days when he'd lived at the tough Germans house. Germany on the other hand was try desperately to shut him up, but it was no use. Eventually he just gave up, noticing the look on the blondes face. D.C. then commented.

"I couldn't imagine the nerve of steel it would take to wear something like that in front of a friend, I know I couldn't have been brave enough to do that."

Germany smiled gratefully as Italy contemplated what the teen had said. Excusing himself, D.C. started to walk to the refreshments table before being stopped again. Chatting cheerfully with Russia, it just didn't fit. England furrowed his brows, this just didn't add up to him. But not wanting to seem like a bad guy again, he decided to just keep an eye on the Capital.

After distracting Russia by pointing out where China was, D.C. finally made it over to the table. Reaching out to grab something his phone went off, laughing bitterly he muttered

"Of course..."

Before taking the call out to the hallway, not noticing he was fallowed. Flipping his phone open, he mulled over which button he had to push before answering.

"Hello, Sam States speaking... oh it's you, you realize you may have costed me my only chance at lunch?... Yeah yeah I know... I have been taking notes... you worry too much... how come your not calling from your phone?... that's the third one this week, you really need to stop bringing it in the bathroom... I don't think you need to listen to music that badly... Maybe a little off topic I guess, so any other reason your calling?... Ahhhh, I'll give it a try. Listen I'll call you back later, the meetings going to start soon... don't worry I won't forget, bye."

Hanging up with a light snap of the lid, D.C. turned around only to jump slightly at who was there.

"Really Canada, warn a person next time. You nearly gave me a heart attack."

The Canadian man only gave a small smile, pointing out.

"Your too young for heart attacks..."

"223 years isn't that young my friend."

Canada responded with a smirk

"So 1000 AD*is then?"

Giving the blond a half serious half joking look

"When you were first discovered doesn't count, technically speaking your only 148. Which makes me older then you."

D.C. stated, lightly punching the Canadian's shoulder. Placing one hand mockingly on the shoulder, Matthew said in fake hurt tone.

"You wound me sir, I don't know if you deserve this snack I brought for you now. Tell me do cruel men even eat?"

Mouth watering at the smell coming from the bag, D.C. mumbled a rushed apology before snatching the bag away. Rolling his eyes, Canada sat next to the teen on the floor.

"So, was that Al on the phone just now?"

Nodding, D.C. basically swallowed the contents of the bag whole before saying.

"Yeah, he wanted to know how things were going here. Even after all he said, I don't think America can really stay out of world affairs entirely. Not to sound conceited, but it feels like nearly everyone in the world needs our help in someway or another. There's no winning, America is hated for helping people and not helping people. We either shouldn't be there or are doing too little to help... honestly I think we should just focus on getting ourselves out of trouble before trying to fix the world's problems. While that might be selfish sounding, think about it this way. It's hard to give when you have basically nothing left, and your only resented for what you've done."

Rubbing the back of his neck, D.C. apologized nervously.

"Sorry about that, I didn't mean to rant at you like that. It's just... never mind. It's not that important anyway, come on lets get back to the meeting. It should be starting about now, thanks for lunch."
