Chapter Twelve: "T-Thomas"

Previously on Far Away:
Chloe and Thomas shared an awkward moment in the car when 'Shake It Off' by Taylor Swift came on the radio. As a reward for the scavenger hunt, Chloe, Thomas, Jake and the red team went to the carnival. Thomas was begging for Chloe's forgiveness and then Chloe's ex, Kyle, shows up.

Chloe's POV

"Chloe..."

"Shut up Jake."

"Chloe."

"No Jake, I will not give you money."

"Chloe!" Jake yells in my ear.

"What!" I tell back, glaring.

What to wear, what to wear...

I flip through my closet, looking for something nice to wear since Kyle will be picking me up straight from school to hang out. I end up picking a lace yellow dress with a white belt. I lightly curl my hair, apply light mascara and head downstairs.

"Morning boys." I say, rubbing Jakes hair and sitting down opposite Thomas.

"Morning."

I've decided to give Thomas a second chance. He did seem truly sorry and I guess if I was in his situation I would want a second chance too. To quote Hannah Montana, everybody makes mistakes.

"Hurry up guys or you're going to be late." Says Thomas's mom, ushering us out the door.

Penny greeted me at my locker as usual, having gotten to school early for a student council meeting. Penny was art rep for student council and she absolutely loved it. She would get a big spot in the yearbook and normally there weren't too many meetings. Right now, however, she's been at school every morning and night prepping for the upcoming semi-formal dance. All she talks about now is the colour schemes and set up. She even convinced me into volunteering to help get everything ready. I'll get her back for it though.

"So how was the meeting?" I ask, knowing that if I didn't, she would've told me anyways.

"Awesome! We decided on silver accents, not gold!" She practically bursts with excitement.

I roll my eyes "told you. Silver just blends in more with black and white. Gold would've stood out too much, though it does look nicer."

"See this is why I need you on the committee!" She says, flinging an arm over my shoulders and giving me a sideways hug.

"Yeah, I'm so going to get you back for that!" I say.

"In your dreams!" She laughs. "Speaking of, is today the day you're going to hang out with Kyle?"

"Yep!" I say, popping the 'p'. "I'm so excited! I've missed him so much! I wonder if he's changed."

"In a couple of years? I doubt it." Says Penny. "We better hurry, Mrs. Kelley will kill us for being late.... Again!"

"Can I have some money?" Jake says, using his little kid voice that he always uses on our parents to get what he wants.
