Liz rested contently on her couch. She was home, finally. Jack was away at a friends for the weekend and Aaron agreed to stay with Liz until he went back to work on Monday. He had fallen asleep about a half hour ago upstairs and as far as he was concerned Liz was lying next to him, but really she was down stairs trying not to cry on the couch. It'd been a hard few days and she was having trouble coping not only with the recent events but with the ones of her past. Flashbacks of that night flooded her mind. Peter still looked the same considering all that time he spent in prison. She didn't want him in prison, she wanted him dead. She wanted to stop thinking about it and living in fear.
She was exhausted physically, she needed to sleep but her mind wouldn't stop. She poured a glass of water and made her way up the stairs stumbling from exhaustion. Just as she opened the door to her room Aaron stirred in his sleep.
"Liz?" His voice was deep and raspy it sent shivers down her spine.
"Yeah, sorry I didn't mean to wake you."
He sat up in the bed and held out his arms for her to cuddle into. "Is everything alright?"
She gulped. "Yeah, I just couldn't sleep." He heard the crack in her voice. She made it to the bed through the dark and fell into his arms. He wrapped them tightly around her and rocked her gently back and forth. She was crying into him.
"Everything's okay. Baby everything's okay." He whispered.
"I know." She sobbed. "I'm just scared."
Aaron understood but he needed her to talk about it. "About?" He placed a soft kiss on the top of her head.
"I want him dead, Aaron. He got out of prison once who's to say he won't do it again."
Aaron sighed. "I'll see what I can do."
She looked up at him. "Really?"
"Anything for you my love." He gave her a reassuring smile.
"Can I tell you something?" She asked.
"Anything."
She buried her head back into his chest. "I'v had nightmares almost every night since my parents died."
"I know."
"What?"
"When you would stay with me I used to freak out because you would wake me up from whimpering and almost screaming in your sleep I'd go check on you to make sure nothing was wrong and you'd be thrashing around helplessly and there was nothing I could do."
"How come you didn't tell me?"
"I didn't want to scare you."
She looked up at him again. "Can I tell you something else? I mean you know already but still..."
"Of course."
"That night I stayed at your place with you was the first time in a long time I slept the whole night."
He smiled at her. "I love you." He whispered leaning in to kiss her.
"I love you too." She said against his lips.
The kiss deepened in the dimly lit room. Aaron pulled away first. "You should get some rest."
Liz sighed knowing he was right. She needed it anyhow.
They laid down and pulled the cover on too of themselves without breaking contact. She rested her head on his chest and listened to his heartbeat. They just laid there in silence for awhile. Liz was convinced Aaron was asleep. But he threw her off when he spoke.
"You awake?" He asked.
"Yeah." She breathed.
"What are you thinking about?"
She didn't know how to answer. "Everything," she admitted.
"You know you can talk to me?"
"I know, sometimes it feel better just to not talk though." Liz told him.
Aaron understood he'd gone through the same thing all that time ago. Sometimes it was nice just to keep it to yourself. He however, also knew the consequences of that. He pushed her away when he didn't talk, he hoped she wouldn't do it to him, though he knew he deserved it.
"If you change your mind, I'll be listening."
"Thanks Aaron."
She giggled quietly.
"What are you laughing at?"
"I was just thinking about when we first met my speech was terrible and I couldn't say your name so I called you 'On' and it didn't make any sense because no one ever knew what I was saying."
He chuckled. "I remember and you'd be like it's On and your grandma would always ask what was on."
"Oh those were good times."
"Yeah they were. How is grandma Anna anyway?"
"She's good, I talked to her earlier, she expects a visit from us soon."
"Maybe tomorrow, we can pick up Jack and then go see her."
"She'd like that." Liz smiled and knew Aaron probably was too though she couldn't see him.
"Are you going to tell her?"
"I didn't plan on it. I feel like it's too much it would only worry her."
"Okay."
"You think I should?" She questioned.
"I think you should do what you think is best."
"That's not a real answer."
"Just think about it okay, she deserves to know, maybe not right now but eventually. She's going to find out about Ben anyway."
Liz scoffed. "He hasn't spoken to her in years."
"Really?" Aaron sounded concerned.
"Yeah, he started stealing money from her for drugs and she kicked him and they haven't spoken since."
"Maybe you shouldn't tell her then." Aaron said knowing it'd be a bad idea.
"I just can't believe he's gone." Tears filled her eyes again. She hadn't thought about it. It was just now starting to hit her. "Aaron I watched my brother get murdered by the man who made me watch my parents die too." She was violently crying into him again. He rubbed her back. He wasn't sure how to comfort her, but he hated to see her this way.
"It's going to take time. Shh Liz it's okay." He wrapped his arm around her tighter. "I'm right here you're alright. Shh." He whispered in an attempt to calm her.
She didn't say anything but wept into him for a while more. Finally she fidgeted out of his grasp. He tilted her head up so she was looking at him. "You are going to be okay, you hear me?"
She nodded weakly in response. They stayed there look at each other for what felt like hours but was really only a few minutes. Then she snuggled back into him. They didn't say anything but they laid awake until sun came up. Eventually Aaron got up. "I'm going to shower," he kissed her head. She got up behind him and grabbed his hand. "What?" He asked.
Without saying anything she pressed her lips to his. The first kiss wasn't so much as a peck before she pulled away, but he went back and deepened it. His hands made their way to her hair as the kiss grew more hungry. "Would you like to join me?" He said against her lips under his breath.
"Love too." She whispered back.
Without breaking contact they made their way to the bathroom. She pulled off his t-shirt.
He only pulled away to turn the water on. "How about a bath?" He asked.
"That sounds amazing."
After he turned the water on he returned back to her now bare body then picked her up bridal style before climbing in the tub.
The warm water instantly relaxed her nerves and for a moment she could pretend the past week hadn't happened. The reality was however that it had. She wrapped her arms around Aaron and held in the urge to cry. He wasn't stupid, he made invisible circles on her back as she started to cry again. The moment took an unexpected turn very quickly. She wanted to love him, she needed to but she also needed to let out the emotion she felt now.
She sobbed into his chest. "I'm sorry Aaron."
"Don't be. Elizabeth, I'm here no matter what you understand?"
She looked up at him. "Really?"
"Always." He gave her a smile and kissed her cheek.
She pulled her self together and moved so she was now straddling his naked body. She ran her finger along his chest sparkled with water then back up to his face where she traced his jawline. He brought his hands up to her face and cupped it while pulling her closer.
The previous hungry kiss seemed to make a reappearance. This time stronger and more passionate. He left her lips and made his way down to her neck gently nipping.
"Aaron." She moaned.
Within minutes the room was a mess of moans as he moved in and out of her. She repeated his name as they made love in the warm water. He slowly picked her up and carried her to the bed and they continued the rendezvous.
There was a moment when he stopped and locked his eyes with hers. "I'm so fucking in love with you Elizabeth." He went for another kiss and continued to move faster. She was reaching her climax and arched her back screaming his name. She felt him cum inside her and after a moment he pulled out and rested his forehead against hers, while holding his body up with his elbows on either side of her. He laid down next to her and she traced her fingers gently up and down his bare chest and planted a kiss on it.
"I needed that." She told him.
"Me too."
"And I'm in love with you too."
He chuckled, "I know."
Aaron reached over and checked his phone for the time. He sighed. "I have to be at JJ's in ten minutes to pick up Jack."
"I'll go with you."
"I wish we could just stay here forever." He admitted.
"Me too."
"I'm sure JJ would keep him another night."
"No, go get him. Spend time with Jack."
"You sure?"
"Yeah Aaron."
They both got up and quickly got dressed. Then walked out to the car hand in hand. Liz couldn't keep her eyes off of him during the car ride. And he just ran his thumb gently over her hand. The silence was comfortable between them.
Liz actually felt at peace despite the recent events. She was happy. Content rather. It was bliss.
