Jack, Aaron and Liz spent the day together at Grandma Anna's and after Aaron had taken the two of them out to dinner with the team. It was fun.
Of course at dinner Garcia and JJ had made a fuss of the hickey formed on Liz's neck causing both her and Aaron to turn red. Jack simply sat confused and went back to coloring his kid's menu.
Liz ordered pasta, simple but she enjoyed it. Aaron had some weird shrimp dish and Jack had mac n' cheese. The table was all laughs and story telling. The team was happy to see Liz was okay and she felt it though it'd only been a couple days.
Dinner seemed to fly by. The team enjoyed having free time just to spend and hang out with one another and when the bills came disappointment spread across every face.
"Alright my house for dessert." Liz told them.
"You sure?" Reid asked.
"Positive. It'll be nice to have the place full, plus I don't know about you guys but I'm having a good time and don't just want to go home to bed."
"I mean we could do others things." Aaron winked at her and she hit him playfully turning red.
Everyone laughed and they too joined in.
"You care if I bring Henry and Will?" JJ asked.
"Not at all."
"Alright I'll see you guys soon, gotta go get my boys." JJ grabbed her purse and headed out the door.
One by one the team left for Liz's and at some point somehow only Aaron, Jack and Liz remained.
"We should probably leave considering they're going to my house."
"Shall we." Aaron grabbed her hand and they all got up and walked out.
Of course the team had beaten them to Liz's and Simon let them in with his key.
The house was filled with laughter and people and Liz loved that, she hardly had people over. She made her way to the kitchen managing to make to the kitchen unnoticed. Henry and Jack had run off upstairs and the team was gathered in the living room.
Simon walked in quietly and sat at the breakfast bar. She jumped when she turned to find him sitting there.
"Everything alright?" He asked her flashing a smile.
"Yeah fine, you?" She replied reassuringly.
Simon just smiled. "You sure?"
"Yeah." She breathed.
She was fine, but the week was starting to catch up to her again. She could feel tears filling her eyes.
"Come here." Simon held out his hand and led her up stairs away from the threat of anyone seeing them. "You want to talk about it?" He brought her close for a hug.
She held in her sobs and held him tight. "Not really." She admitted. Then she finally took a deep breathe and looked up and gave him a smile. "I just needed a minute."
"Okay, but if you change your mind I'm right here."
"Thanks Simon."
"Anytime kiddo."
They walked back down the stairs and she poured a glass of water before meeting them in the living room.
Aaron had saved her seat next to him on the couch and when she joined him he kissed the top of her head and put his arm around her shoulders. She leaned into him and and smiled at the group in front of her.
The laughter made her happy. It made all of them happy.
----
Then the night came and went and before Liz knew it the clock read 3:30. Jack had gone home with Henry for another night and Aaron was fast asleep next to Liz.
She laid there staring at the ceiling not knowing what to think. Her mind raced. She still wasn't sure weather or not to tell grandma Anna about Ben. The funeral was in two days and frankly she didn't want to go.
Liz suddenly felt sick she jumped up and ran to the bathroom. Everything she'd eaten all day was now before her floating in the toilet she flushed it and plopped down in the bathroom floor. What was that about? She wondered.
Then she felt sick again and repeated the last episode. Aaron came in then. Sleepily in his white t-shirt and boxers. The light nearly blinded him and he rubbed his eyes. "Liz are you alright?" He nearly ran to her side when he realized what was going on.
"I don't know." She sighed. She all of a sudden felt sick. "I was lying in bed then all of a sudden I got sick. Food poisoning probably."
"You okay?"
"Yeah, You can go to bed I'll be back in a minute."
"No." He said looking at her. "I'm staying up with you."
She rolled her eyes. "I'm fine."
"I'm not leaving." He protested.
"Fine," she gave in, "but I need a minute."
"Okay." He left her alone in the bathroom, shutting the door on his way out. She pulled herself off the floor and stared at herself in the mirror. She looked drained from exhaustion given that she hadn't slept in two days. What she didn't understand was how she was sick. They'd all eaten the same thing, yet Aaron was just fine. Then it hit her.
"No." She whispered. She shook her head. "You can't be." She told her reflection. But she knew damn well she could. Her head spun for a second, then She splashed some cold water on her face.
She made her way back to the bed without saying anything. Aaron found this weird.
"Elizabeth?"
"Yeah." She answered dazed.
"What's the matter?"
She sighed. "I think I'm pregnant Aaron." She looked at him and his eyes locked with hers.
Neither of them really knew what to say. They weren't sure weather to be excited or scared or both. Liz still had progress to make with her addiction and the both of them were neck deep in their job constantly.
Then a smile came across Aaron's face. His thoughts had processed. "I love you." Was all he said and he took her arms and put them around him before wrapping his around her. She could feel him still smiling and despite her expert profiling abilities she couldn't tell if he was doing it because he was sincerely happy or just trying to make her feel better.
"We can go to the doctors tomorrow for confirmation, it's just the only logical explanation for my sudden sickness." She told him.
He released her and looked into her eyes. "You don't seem too thrilled."
She grew agitated at his comment. "Sorry," it came out somewhat sarcastic. "It's been a long week pardon me for being a little freaked out at how quickly things are happening." She snapped at him.
"Liz what the hell?" He pulled away completely.
"What Aaron? Admit it, it's a little much at one time!" Her voice raised.
Liz hadn't slept in two days, Aaron figured it was why she was taking this out of proportion.
"Calm down please." He insisted.
She got up and he went to grab her wrist to stop her. She turned and glared at him.
"Let go."
He did and she walked out of the room. "Elizabeth come back here." He got up to follow her. She continued down the steps to the kitchen. "Liz what is the matter with you?"
"You." She stopped and glared at him once more.
"Me?" He scoffed.
"Yeah did I stutter?"
Now Aaron was really confused. What was her problem?
"I didn't do anything." He defended. "Liz please just tell me what is wrong?"
"I don't know Aaron! Everything. This isn't what I wanted, not right now. I'v had the worst couple of months and now this and I don't know what to think!"
"But you aren't doing any of it alone." He walked to her and remained entirely calm.
"Why do I feel like I am?" She lowered her voice.
Aaron sighed. "This isn't about tonight is it? This is about...this." He said pointing to himself then her. "This is about us and your doing to me what I did to you."
She stopped what she was doing to listen to him.
"I walked away from you, I didn't tell you anything, because when things get bad and stressful it's easier to push everyone away and walk. Rather than dealing with the problem directly. I thought maybe we had both learned something but maybe not." Now his voice was raised. She wasn't going to argue with him any longer. She started to walk away. "That's exactly what I mean Elizabeth, you're just walking away." He followed her back up the steps.
He whipped around to look at him. "Like you did?!"
She finished up to her room and pulled out some clothes, throwing them messily into her go bag. "Where are you going?"
"To Simon's, you are more than welcome to stay here just be gone tomorrow afternoon before I get back." She stormed out and back down the steps.
"So that's it, I finally have you, you're finally mine and it ends just like this?" He asked calm again.
She just looked at him piercing through his soul with her beautiful eyes, that now were filled with tears.
He sighed defeated. "Go then, but remember this, if you are pregnant that kid is mine too."
"I just need some time Aaron."
With that she went out to her car and drove off without another word to him. She watched her taillights fade away in the rain.
