Taylor's POV
My phone always gives me a notification text when someone posts something to twitter, so when it went off, naturally, I checked it. I opened up the app and saw that Morgan had tweeted four pictures. I chuckled, thinking about what she must be doing. But when I clicked the link to the picture and saw that it was with her and this guy, my mind whirled out of proportion. I thought of all the possibilities of why they could be hanging out. I finally came up with the conclusion that they're just friends. That satisfied me until I saw the last picture. He was holding her face and they were kissing!
That was not okay, he can't just swoop in like some hawk and take her awa-. Wait! What if this was the push I needed to get over Morgan? Maybe fate was giving me some painful sign that said, "Hey, she's moving on, you should too." Now all I needed to do was force my mind not to think about her for the rest of the time that we're in Australia. Maybe I needed to do something that tied me to Alex, something that signified me and Alex together. Then it, hit me, the perfect solution. I need to propose to Alex!
Immediately after this thought, I ran to grab my shoes. Before Alex could question what I was doing, I ran out the door, yelling behind me that I'll be back soon. I used my phone to navigate me to the nearest jewelry store. But before I got there, I had to stop to take a breath because honestly, I don't really do running all that much. I mean, I lift weights to keep my arms in shape, I do ab workouts to keep my stomach muscles toned, but I really only run when I have to. So when I ran a few blocks, not helping. I walked the rest of way to the jewelry store, and finally opened the door and sauntered inside. Acting very casual in case somebody noticed me. When the woman behind the counter finally noticed me, we quickly exchanged hello's and I told her what I was looking for.
"Well sir, do know what ring size she is?" She asked me so politely but it was then that I forgot to check. I just sort of walked out in a blaze of glory. Not really remembering what I needed. So I just decided to wing it and hope it worked. Because we always held hands, I knew pretty much how wide her fingers were. I pretended to hold hands and I imagined the silhouette of her fingers in between mine. I opened a gap between my fingers about the size I thought her finger would be, then I held up my fingers and showed them to the woman.
"Umm, about this size." I said, feeling a little bad for the lady because I had no idea what I was doing. But despite all that, she Seemed really happy and friendly. She nodded and showed me a selection of rings that fit the size I was mimicking. I though about everything Alex had ever said to me about the rings she wears. Half the time I was just nodding and smiling, not really paying attention, so it was a challenge to recall all that information. But eventually I got what I needed from the memories and chose a white gold ring with three diamonds. A big diamond in the middle, and two smaller diamonds on the sides. I thought it was gorgeous, but what made me love it more was the meaning.
"They say that the first diamond," She pointed to the one on the left, "Indicates the past, all the memories of your relationship. The second diamond, "She pointed to the middle one, "Indicates the present, everything good that is happening in the moment. And the third diamond," She pointed to the last diamond, "Indicates the future, everything that you will do. The family you will build. And the life you will create together." (A/N: true fact) She smiled when she said all that. I looked at her wedding ring and saw that it was, in fact, that same type of ring. I suddenly understood why she liked it so much. Because she had known those facts because she had lived them all. I nodded my head, indicating that I wanted that ring. She smiled at me again, and led me over to the check out counter. Once she rang me up, I slid my debit card, entered the pin, and waited for it to go through. Once it did, the women wished me luck and handed me the little navy blue box. I thanked her and walked out to the bustling mall.
