Taylor's POV
"I have an idea, and I need your help." She said quietly to me.
My heart began to race. I thought that it had to be something about giving us a chance. Maybe she wanted to give us a try but agree to be friends if it didn't work. A million thoughts raced through my mind. But, knowing I couldn't play it off frantically, I played it cool.
"What do mean?"
"Well, I mean, we can't be anything for the moment because of Alex. Even then, I'm not sure I want a full on relationship anyway. So, I was thinking, well, maybe we could like, just be..." She trailed off, not knowing how to say what she wanted to.
I think I understood what she was trying to say so I decided to try and say it for her.
"Like, friends with benefits?" I said with hope.
"Well, yes. Just less friends and more benefits. I don't want Alex to know anything because it wouldn't be fair to her. I just switched dorms and she should be finding out in approximately," Her phone rang on cue, "Right now." She finished her sentence as she looked at me scaredly. She picked up her phone and answered it.
"Hey Lex. I know. No, I just thought. It was because you. No it has nothing to do with him. Please believe me. No I didn't. Alex calm down. Come on don't. Alex. Alex? Ugh." She put down her phone with fury.
She turned back to me, sighed, and asked where we were.
"Less friends, more benefits?" I reminded her.
"Oh right. Well, Alex wouldn't find out as long as you shut up about it. Which you seem to have a problem doing. It's like the second she presses you for an answer, you crumble. You have no power against her and it needs to change for this to work. So, can you please suck it up and be strong because I need this to work." She said questioningly with a slight smirk on her face.
"I do not crumble. I am a very strong person, I'll have you know." I said proudly.
She nodded sarcastically but got serious again.
"Do you want to do this?"
"Yes. I definitely want to do this. To further accept, I cordially invite you over my brand new apartment that didn't get sold when I was in Australia to start our friendly relationship." I slyly hinted to her, starting to understand this and getting extremely happy.
I paid the bill and grabbed Morgan's hand as we walked out of the café. She pulled her hand away two seconds later and gave me a look that said, Less friends, remember? Idiot. I walked side-by-side with her all the way over to my new apartment. We stood by the elevator door as we silently waited for the elevator to reach our ground-level height. When the high pitched ding of the elevator's arrival sounded, I put my hand on Morgan's back and guided her into the elevator. I reached across her body and pressed the top button on the panel. It lit up and we felt a surge as we went up soundlessly. Finally we had reached the 8th floor and I was ready to do this. I was definitely ready.
The building had one apartment on the top floor and it was mine. The thick, white carpets were pure against the harsh contrast of the blue furniture. The kitchen counters were all black granite with stainless-steel appliances. The living room had two couches side-by-side with a small, glass end table in between. On the wall faced by both couches was a 60" flat screen hung on the wall. On the side of the room there was a love seat facing two armchairs with a coffee table in between. Through the hallway on the left end of the room led to my bedroom. I walked toward my door, assuming Morgan would follow. Which she did.
